About time. Now that I am old and broken down, the crewing agencies out of Odessa, Cyprus, Jersey & Guernsey may actually have taken a look at my resume. Funny. Born too late or too early. I submitted resume’s by the bushel in the 80’s and 90’s and never got a bite despite having been double ended seismic/ seismic surveyor and seismic marine crew on Western and HGS seismic vessels; experienced in a very small niche market, and having worked on multiple overseas assignements in Brunei, Red Sea, Egypt, North Sea and Nova Scotia. They saw I was a US national and threw my resume away.

Likewise. Even if I’m no longer a candidate for any new position, at sea or ashore, I notice that many of the searches I receive on LinkedIn are by HR people that is looking for qualified people to fill vacancies in various maritime positions.
PS> When they check my ages they quickly realize they I’m not a likely candidate.
I don’t know if anybody here is interested in Lloyd’s Maritime Institute and their offering of online maritime training courses for Mariners that is looking for a new maritime related position: https://www.lloydmaritime.com/
Their LinkedIn address: https://www.linkedin.com/school/lloyds-maritime-institute/
Or maybe just to offer candidates for their Maritime Personality of the Week ?

Intercargo Annual Review 2024 - Commitment to Safe, Sustainable, and Resilient Dry Bulk Shipping | MaritimeCyprus
“” Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. Our 2024 Bulk Carrier Casualty Report highlights encouraging trends, with vessel losses declining even as the fleet continues to grow. However, the devastating consequences of cargo liquefaction remind us that significant challenges remain, requiring ongoing vigilance and proactive measures. Issues such as cargo liquefaction and enclosed space entry continue to contribute to casualties, underscoring the importance of our continued efforts. “”

From a shipping perspective, a greater role for the US, both as a supplier and consumer of global raw materials and finished goods, is good news. If a country can sell to or buy from the US, business can skyrocket.
My bet is on Asia picking up that gauntlet and that means good news for shipping with longer haul trades. But it is going to be one hell of a ride, but if any industry is used to choppy seas, it is the shipping industry. We will come out stronger from the next four years. Of that I have no doubt.

A new bulk trade developing?:
Japanese shipowner Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is joining forces with Cyprus-based dry bulk specialist SMT Shipping to jointly explore options for shipping direct reduced iron (DRI). Interest in DRI produced by reducing iron ore with natural gas or...

MOL, which has been delivering iron ore to steel industries for many years, said that shipping of DRI requires specialised skills and care to prevent overheating and that SMT, with a fleet of over 65 vessels involved in shipping and transshipment of dry bulk cargo, is a world leader in this field.
“To produce steel via DRI requires high-grade iron ore, not just in terms of Fe content, but also low impurity, something that is spurring the development of the huge Simandou iron ore mine in West Africa,” Derek Langston, global head of dry cargo research at Braemar told the nearly 600 delegates attending last year’s Geneva Dry.

We are an asset to the security and competitiveness of Europe,” said Sotiris Raptis, the organisation’s secretary-general.
