Speaking of a “Little Americana” in Norway, this year it is 200 years since the first organized emigration from Norway to North America:
An event like that can’t be allowed to go unnoticed, thus a replica of the Restauration will make the same voyage this year.
The expedition will leave Stavanger next Friday (4th of July), with the Royal family waving them goodbye and fair winds on the crossing.
They will reach New York City in Oct. presumably with many with Norwegian roots there to welcome them.

4th of July is celebrated in Norway too, but for different reasons.
- Stavanger celebrate it’s 900th Birthday.
- It is 200 years since first organized immigration to North America. A replica of the first emigrant ship is leaving from Stavanger today:
- Queen Sonja celebrate her 88th Birthday in Stavanger today.
