But the tunnels are festively illuminated…
Interesting how it matches you dashboard accent. Did you try changing the color while going through it?
Norway’s female football team may have lost the quarterfinal in the European Cub. but our deer’s are making up for it.
Two deer playing with a ball in a field in Søvik have received a lot of attention on TikTok.
Thanks for this lovely thread! Norway is indeed a magical country.
We spent much of last summer sailing around Norway in our yacht, starting from Stavangar, and working our way North. We then sailed across to the Shetlands, and from there back to Denmark.
We saw a lot of jaw-dropping landscapes, met a lot of interesting people, did a lot of hiking – the Norse are so friendly and easy to get to know, especially the sailors. Best summer I’ve had in a long time.
A new phenomenon:
“Coolcation”
A report from the European Travel Commission (ETC) shows that climate change is now increasingly affecting Europeans’ travel habits. According to the report, 28 percent of European travelers are actively choosing destinations with cooler climates to avoid extreme heat.
The phenomenon has been named “coolcation”, and is a combination of the English words “cool” and “vacation”.
But there is a problem in Norway these days:]

PS> Next year’s race will be open to participants from around the world, if anybody here should feel the urge to test their stamina.
Seward Alaska has a similar type race. Mount Marathon Race in Seward – The toughest 5K on the planet. My knees hurt just thinking about it.
Coincidential namesake, familiy, or the poster himself?![]()
Coincident. (I’ too old to play mountain goat)
In these parts the name originate from Buggestranda (now written Boggestranda) a villager in Romsdal: Boggestranda - Wikipedia
The surname Bugge is found more widely in Norway, Denmark, Germany and in some form in UK, US, South Afrika and Australia.
I have been told that the village got it’s name from a Danish nobleman that settled there while Norway was in union with Denmark.(1537 - 1814)-
PS> There is also a place in Alaska named Bugge Beach:
Apparently there is/was a “Bugge Beach Beer” as well.
It is 14 years ago today sine the terrorist attacked on a Government office in Oslo and a summer camp for young people at Utøya. 77 people died that day because a right wing lunatic didn’t like their political leaning:
This event is commemorated every year, both to remember those who died, those who bear scars, both physical and mental, from their ordeal.
It also celebrate that Norway handled the case with dignity and didn’t take draconian steps to seek revenge:
The scary thing is that the perpetrator has a following among young people, not only in Norway but in many countries around the world:
