No one on our ship has heard anything about a real pay raise. Only the same old rumors, but nothing close to being solid. Sorry.

My mother has been dealing with my dad working offshore for over 30 years and she says we gossip worse the little old ladies.
I just laughed and nodded my head in agreement when she told me that.
its a sailors right to gossip and complain man and we do it to the full extent of our abilities. having said that I hope its not a rumor and that it trickles down to us smaller tonnage guys this time. I also heard it was gonna happen from a buddy near to home. time will tell.
I just heard that some or a lot of Chouest crew are thinking of jumping ships because of Low daily rates on Deckhands and Oilers? Is this true?? Any idea guys?

AB’s and QMED’s didn’t get a raise the last time around to the best if my knowledge.
Only b/c there’s not a shortage of AB’s. They aren’t giving away money b/c of our charm, wit, or boyish good looks. Simply doing what is necessary to crew boats.

She is right. My wife put up with her dad offshore for over 30 years and now has done the smae with me for almost as long even though she is only 29 according to her. According to that logic, she had our first child when she was 4 by my math. She didn’t look 4, I swear!

When I was making my loop in the bayou (17th of July)I did see alot of ECO backpacks being carried around.
Are you effing kidding me! I realize you want to be part of the community here, but fabricating a line like that just to add to the conversation is ridiculous. I suppose you are on Billy Bobs truckers website too, providing excellent valuable tips for avoiding skunks and other varmints or not picking up hitch hikers wearing orange backpacks bearing the initials “ECO”.
Well, now I wish i had taken a photo of em’. I almost did just for fun. Actually, the backpacks were black/dk blue with the eco logo embroidered on the back, logo was about 5- 6 inches in dia. about 3/4 of the way up the pack. (anybody have one? :~)
