Chouest Raises Again?

I would’nt run down to the auto dealership and put a down payment on the biggest and best based on what I hear as top secret info on the boats. I’m not claiming to know everything about the buisness, but this ain’t my first rodeo either. I’ve been on the boats for awhile and would hear the “keep this under your hat…but I heard that there’s going to be a biiiiig pay raise next pay period”, for almost 3 yrs. I think propaganda is a big part of keeping folks wondering and sitting tight. Regardless of whether you work for company A or company B, they are buisness people and the only time you will see that salary difference is when their hand is forced. No reflection on any one company, it’s just buisness in the oil patch. I would say enjoy it, you are sacrificing for it, just put a little back for the days ahead. When you draw your last breath on this earth and it’s all said and done, you’re not going to be saying…I wished I would have spent more time in Fourchon.
You milage may vary.

Guys just heard that SEACOR will be giving out 90 dollars raise across the board. Anybody have any information about this?? How much does ECO pays for their QMEDS, ABS and ENGR, Capt??

Seacor says they will give a raise in July. That doesn’t leave much time. Their pay is about the lowest out of major companies

I heard something around the same

Seacor boats are crewed by Chouest employees.

Only the Reliant, Relentless, Rigorous, and Reslove are run by Chouest. The old Rowan AHTS.

Still puts SEACOR behind everybody. Have a buddy that’s a relief 1600 ton master and hes only making around $560 a day right now.

Wonder if he has DP? That’s pretty low.

Hes got DP and Oceans. I don’t know if that included his overseas bump or not as last time I talked to him he was working in the Gulf and now is back in Trinidad.

That’s really low IMO. With DP unlimited and GMDSS with his 3000itc he’d make $800 to start here. Must be really happy where he is. But then it is hard to get hired here also with being a smaller company with a very low turnover rate for Masters and Engineers.

If he is happy with where he is, then so much the better. Maybe he has a long term plan that SEACOR is a part of, who knows.

I worked for less for 22 years and now get my retirement pay and my medical covered along with what I get where I work now and doing pretty. My brother has been with the same company I am for 30 years and most of that on the same boat and he is happy even though he has received offers to the office as well as becoming a pilot.

I learned a long time ago, money is not everything unless you are a prostitute along with everything else that entails.

850$ - 560$ = 290$ a day…8700$ a month difference whheeeeewww!!! that is what I call happines!!

I know what you mean but here is my logic:

That works out to <$60,000 a year if you are working even time. I am lucky, maybe that guy at SEACOR is too or has a long term plan. That is why I quit the oilfield to serve my country and then came back after retirement.

I can be picky and I am already retired. My job keeps me out of trouble for 6 months out of the year and my wife takes care of the rest of the year. At my age, no amount of money can make up working for a moron, I just don’t have the patience anymore and plenty of experience working for morons. Remember, I was with the government, I was there to help. Now it is my crew that probably thinks they are working for a moron…

I work for GREAT people and a great company, the client, not so much, but I use there own Operations Manual against them daily for my own amusement which beats reality TV and sports.

—Attaboy on the Ops Manual! That shit often bites those in the ass that wrote it!

Oh, the beauty of it all!

I work for GOL. One of the best if not the best company in the gulf. I’m 36 and have been here 10 years come November. During that time i’ve never had my pay cut, been forced to take extra time off due to lack of work, or had any serious disagreements with the office. Happiness goes a LONG way I agree. Not many people in the oilfield can say they’ve been as happy as I have been over the past 10 years.

Then again there are those that confuse happiness with complacency. I thought I was happy running large crewboats until I finally upgraded. Forgot how much fun challenging myself could be. Not to mention rewarding.

I knew quite a few people that came to my company from Seacor and they seemed like good folks and did their job well but they were laid-off at Seacor. They said Seacor was one of the best places they ever worked and were very happy there. This was the concensus of most everyone I’ve meet from Seacor, even after being canned.

Ok guys its Aug 1st how much did you get?

Haven’t heard of anything. Pay dates are the 7th and 22nd of each month. I dont think it was a valid rumor

I like to know myself… haven’t heard anything at all. Looks like just a rumor.
