Tug Boat Jobs San Fran Bay

Does any one know the best way to get a deck job either AB or Mate on a tug boat on San Francisco Bay? Seems like some of the companies are IBU union, or MMP inland., but a lot are private companies. Any tips or leads of who to apply to appreciated. Thanks!

Bay Delta Maritime (Escort and Assist) has a casual list you can sign up on. You have to some dues to MMP to be on the list, but its not complicated. Wester has the same setup with MMP. You can get on a list, pay some dues, and wait for work. Could be a step towards getting a real job at either place. To get on the list, I would just suggest heading down to the offices.

The IBU jobs are more complicated. You have to go down to the hall, put your name in a book. wait. take a class in the spring. wait. then I don’t know what happens because I could never wait long enough.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks I appreciate that.

Go full ahead and ram the dispatcher up the stern!!!

Are you licensed and qualified to operate a tug alone on a watch? If you are looking for the opportunity to GET a TOAR that is a seperate question.
