Ahoy Maties!. Do any of you work in the Bay Area? I have a MMD OS/Wiper/Steward w/ security, API 2D Rigger, and STCW BST and RFNPW. I was wondering the best places to look for work? I have been working in the gulf of Mexico on Dive Boats and On an ROV boat. I also have worked on Salmon Tenders, and COmmercial Fishing Boats in Alaska. I am trying to find whatever work I can get. I am not picky. I’ll even go back to working on fishing boats. any advice would be appreciated

Manson maybe? Or try Brusco Tug and barge, they do a lot of work in the bay.
Last I knew, Manson was IBU.
This is a good time to go back to Alaska.
Westar, Jerico, Dutra, Harley, AmNav
thanks for the tips. I know I’ll probably have to go back to Alaska… its not so bad. the Shelikof Strait can kick your ass sometimes though

Brusco’s always looking for fresh meat to crew their boats on the Alaska run

Please elaborate…that run has a turnover? its that bad?

Yes, its bad. It’s Brusco, a terrible little company with terrible little boats. But you are an OS, and if you need work, beggars can’t be choosers. Brusco pays on time anyway.
You can always work for n0aa on the Dyson for about 1/5000 what you are accustomed to making now. Isn’t that exciting?
In the SF Bay Area you can either work for IBU,SUP or SIU. Crowley is IBU and Foss is IBU and SUP. Harley Marine is SIU. If you registered at the IBU, it is very difficult to get steady work as a "D’ card. Most SF Mariners don’t have an SCTW, so that is a plus for you. Crowley would want to send you off shore and to Alaska. Foss may need you in SF or probably send you off shore too. They are both decent companies to work for. Good Luck
