The Ramifications

If your attention span was longer by a few seconds, you could have read on to the end of Trump’s tweet where he says,

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

I wonder why he would invoke God’s blessing on the people of Iran if everyone here thinks he wants to bomb them all dead?

Because it is the meaningless throwaway noise uttered by a gutless antisocial pathological liar to satisfy the simple needs of the gullible morons who defend him and believe his lies.

A more level headed commentator here?

BTW; Why did DJT back down and accept a ceasefire on Iran’s terms so easily?
Could it be that the military brass in Pentagon have stood up to his BS and told him they were not going to commit war crimes on his behalf?

PS: Of course Netanyahu would do this worst to break the ceasefire deal, thus the attacks in Libanon not only continue but escalate.

Could be . This actiion has even an interesting idiom in english as some bloke explained patiently here and there and somewhere else .

Q:

They pulled the trigger

E.Q.

So simple.

I absolutely understand the right of innocent passage. Ultra large Bulk Carriers use Cook Strait on passage to Drake Passage. As you mention it is International Law . Law that requires agreement between states. Iran is not agreeing with anyone and seems to have the muscle to do it.

Yes. So Trump is destroying Iran’s muscle and working to convince Iran to change its mind. Iran is using whatever leverage it has. So is Trump. This will be resolved.

Is Iran right to close the straits? They are not Iran’s to close.

The entire world is affected by this and it would behove the world’s nations to agree to get the straits open. What has the UN said? Iran sits in the UN. Has it been condemned? Censured? Cautioned? What actions are proposed by any nation other than USA?

Are you gonna make another thread about attracting 1a/e or are you gonna stop coming down to ecr at coffee time.

Not a fan of Iran at all but basing my decisions & opinions on principle and not hatred of Iran, I can see Oman & Iran having an argument about the ownership of the narrowest point in the Hormuz. And “yes” about the narrow Cook Strait too. It’s 14nm at it’s narrowest & everyone knows who they’re going to call if the need assistance while passing through. The same with the 21nm at narrowest point in the Hormuz? Neither are open ocean like the Drake, Bass Strait or Tasman Sea? Not a bad bone to throw Iran after killing their high priest & blowing up all their shit.

So true, our current actions have just renewed the hatred for another few hundred years.

The entire world was not consulted about starting the war.

Not even the US Congress was consulted.

Cheeto jesus broke things all by himself. So he needs to man- up and fix it himself.

Like leader, like cult: they take no responsibility for the shit that they do. Ever.

The war so far had been a cheap re-run of the Iraq War. GW Bush had a bombing campaign too. He even gave it a Mad Men marketing name: ‘Shock and Awe’. Precision bombing on a vast and glitzy scale.

Didn’t work.

But he knew it wouldn’t work because the Pentagon told him that military history says it wouldn’t. So, he had an army ready to go for ground invasion. That’s why he had the army ready to go. Military history says that a bombing campaign will not displace a well-entrenched and motivated enemy. Didn’t work in Guernica, didn’t work against London, or Berlin, or Okinawa. Invasion is needed.

His Middle East advisors told him the invasion would be successful but what would come afterwards would be disastrous. They were right.

Still, GWB accepted all blame for what happened.

Now the Pentagon is telling the president the exact same thing. Because of, you know, history and such. What does he do? He sacks the top general for telling him the truth. Which is:

Only ground invasion will displace the regime. Followed by insurgency. Thousands of Americans dead. Hundreds of thousands of Persians, mostly women and children, dead. Millions of refugees.

A re-run of Iraq, only deadlier on both sides, because both sides know what’s coming. Our side won’t bother avoiding killing non-combatants. Hegseth has gone on record saying you gotta kill them all. And the Persians perfected insurgent warfare 20 years ago. Now they’ll add drones to it, perfected during the Ukrainian war. So the insurgency is going to be more lethal than 20 years ago

Now, let’s say 3 years from now it’s all over. What do you have? An American-backed leader that half the population will hate, backed by an American military. Basically what you had when the Shah was in power. How did he keep in power? Arrests, torture, and murder. Same as the present regime stays in power.

Re-run.

It is well known that Trump is not a fan of NATO. But WHY:

Source: Leaving NATO Would Be National Self-Sabotage

Questions:

  • Is Trump deliberatly weaking both European NATO member and USA to please Putin?
  • If so, what has Putin got on Trump that makes him do so?
  • Was Epstein secretly passing compromising information to Putin?

PS: There MAY be a silver lining here:

It is interesting that both the aviation and maritime sectors pushed to eliminate the one person accident via CRM and BRM yet the ultimate control over the POTUS, Congress, is being totally sidelined.
Therefore we are witnessing, in Iran, the classic one person accident with dire ramifications.
Edit: I fully understand that the Republicans hold the majority in both houses but it just proves to me that the system is broken when this is allowed to happen. The Australian system is no better…….we currently have an out of control Prime Minister doing an inordinate amount of damage to our country.

It is always preferable to wage war in someone else’s backyard rather than your own.
