Hormuz in the News

The not so straight “Strait of Hormuz” has been in the news a lot lately:

Maybe there will be a solution soon:

Or maybe not:

Looks to me it becomes like " new normal " with our pockets drained abnormal.
Re my pocket i see similarities/parallels:

  1. Cov2019
  2. Ukraine 2022
  3. Iran 2026
All three a disasterous impact on my budget . Have one thing in common though . That one THING behind all three events.
My drama is I MUST LOVE IT and support it. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Dr. Sal latest.

The Liberian and Panamanian flag owners who include many Americans will have their lobbyists outraged at this. The former registry is just down the road from the White House.

When ships flew the flag of their owners nationality they paid taxes and supported their defense. Where is the navy of the flag of convenience shipping?

That is progress.

Meanwhile, life goes on in Iran:

From Seymour Hersh’s reporting:

There is a possibility that Trump’s decision to rain hell on Iran was triggered by his irritation at what seemed to be a lack of process in a series of meetings, mediated by Oman, between American and Iranian representatives. A third round of meetings took place in Geneva two days before Trump ordered the attack. America’s main negotiator, fellow real estate operator Steve Witkoff, failed to communicate the possible import of a last-minute proposal from the Iranian negotiator that showed surprising flexibility.

The Iranian offer, according to a subsequent analysis by the Arms Control Association, an independent group in Washington respected for its knowledge of complex arm control issues, was totally misunderstood by Witkoff in his subsequent briefings to the press. The ACA says that he made clear that he “did not have sufficient technical expertise or diplomatic experience to engage in effective diplomacy. His lack of knowledge and mischaracterization of Iran’s positions and nuclear program throughout the process likely informed Trump’s assessment that talks were not progressing and Iran was not negotiating seriously.”

The ACA report, written by Kelsey Davenport, director for nonproliferation policy, concludes that Trump’s “failure to send a qualified team to negotiate with Iran is inexcusable. . . . Witkoff’s failure to learn the nuclear file and surround himself with the technical expertise necessary to negotiate an effective deal was a disservice to US and international nonproliferation goals.”

Let me run this by you.

20% of the worlds fuel delivery system travels through Hormuz

80% of it does not.

Why don’t ‘we’ shut the Strait and tell ‘them’ to go stuff it.

I figure that I can cope with -20% of stuff.

Already paying +25% for everything.

From the Lloyds List article:

They are not using the Hormuz TSS. Iran permits passage via the Qeshm//Larak channel only - if “approved”. Here’s one I saw earlier…

Which suggests that TSS may be mined - or they want us to think it is…
