Ship run aground in Ålesund

A regular visitor in Ålesund run aground while underway between two terminals this afternoon;

At 15.51 a tugboat towed the ship, so that it came afloat. The ship eventually left the area for its own engine.Task leader Arne Lid Skodje in the police then said that the cause of the incident was still not clarified.
There are no suspicion of alcohol being involved

Eimskip’s CEO, Lara Konradsdottir, reports to Sunnmørsposten that the triggering reason why the cargo ship «Holmfoss» went ashore in Ellingsøyfjorden was a malaise in the captain.
The ship only had to change location, a short trip of about twenty-five minutes. The captain was alone in the wheelhouse when the situation arose, which is normal, says Konradsdottir.

• He was a good and experienced skipper, who has sailed for many years. He is doing well now, but we know that it is difficult for him and his family, so we want peace around the matter.
  The police have completed their investigations, and Eimskip will carry out an internal investigation. The ship is now in Fredrikshavn in Denmark, where repairs will be made.
