Security job description please?

I just got hired on as an AB with ECO and was told I will be working loop security. Is anyone familiar what that entails, type of vessel, basic job description etc.?

My guess is you will be on one of their security vessels which is basically a crew boat painted gray.

Sorry to sound so novice but this is my first job in the GOM. I just passed my physical, heading to safegulf and rigging next week then onto a security vessel.
Any insight as to what kind of security they perform or what areas they generally work?

Get ready for getting beat up and lots of boredom. All you do is sit offshore and escort the tankers in or run boats off that wonder into the LOOP safety zone. All you will really do is clean the boat.

Yea itโ€™s the crew boat they have painted grey.

None of the boats in that field really do the typical GOM oil field stuff, but the LOOP Line, LOOP loader, and LOOP Lifter are fun boats to be on. The LOOP Responder is really boring for the guys on deck as well as all you do is beside clean is pass up the tow line when you escort the tankers in.

I was on the Loader and Line for a while, most everybody is pretty good and its not a bad job.

Thanks jemplayer,
Any input on what kind of schedule they run or how long
they stay offshore? Do they have internet onboard by chance, how are the crew quarters?

Bro, itโ€™s a crewboat. ECO crewboats are nice, but still a crewboat. You are going to work a 28/14 rotation more than likely. You will be in and out periodically. It just work the loop field which is just a few miles offshore. Google the Loop it will fill in some more details. The job is just what it sounds like. Security for the Loop. The boat has extra accomodations because it did survey work in its former life. From everything I heard about the Master he is supposed to be a really good guy.

Thanks i appreciate the feedback.
