Safety fairway for the approach to Belle Pass?

Just a thought. At least it would give us offshore folks a legal basis for calling out shrimpers in dangerous crossing situations. Not that they would answer the radio anyway. I’m sure they are quietly giving us the finger as they meander across while we are frantically trying to figure out how to navigate through all that shit. I used to work on draggers out of Rhode Island. I can sympathize with them. Everyone has to make a living. I guess it’s too touchy an issue. Are they ever going to have another entrance into Fourchon?

New entrance would just mean more butterfly boats lol.

I’d like to see gCaptain interview the port authority and write an article on Fourchon long term plans.

Now that is the best idea I have heard in a long, long time. Nothing but bigger boats… Entrance? Another exit?

posted this before but thought I would again…my idea for a vessel friendly Port Fourchon/Belle Pass

the problem is figuring how to build this while keeping the port open at the same time?

Port Fourchon is one Cat. 5 direct hit away from disappearing completely. Then they can start over and get it right, maybe. Perhaps build a couple of facilities miles apart so that the majority of the GOM oil industry isn’t dependent on one precarious piece of bayou.

When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that’s what you’re going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of Cut Off!

will never happen but it they were smart, they’d build levees all around the port and have a huge barge to sink in the pass to prevent storm surge from flooding out the place. There’s not a single damned thing they can do about wind tho!

Oh great, more levees to bust down, just what Louisiana needs! To top it all off they should have FEMA build them!

That may very well be…

But Gary’s not my king; I didn’t vote for him.

You don’t vote for kings…they take their throne just like Gary did.

you need to brush up on your Monty.

Gary got his throne when a watery tart gave him the idea for building C-Port 1, 2, etc.

Look mate strange women lying about in bayous distributing ideas is no basis for running a company supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses not from some fanciful aquatic ceremony…

so why don’t the workers in the offshore wield more power? Let’s here it for anarcho-syndicalism!

Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!

.

Joe boss! Joe boss! Joe boss!

you poor deluded tool of the capitalist overlords!

Oh king, eh, very nice. An’ how’d you get that, eh? By exploitin’ the workers – by ‘angin’ on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic an’ social differences in our society! If there’s ever going to be any progress–

But there never will be any progress until the workers throw off the shackles that chain them to their masters and take the power that rightfully belongs to them! Never gonna happen tho, everyone is just a big herd of stoopid sheep! Did you enjoy Duck Dynasty last night?

Don’t watch that show or the killin animals channel either. I do know that I wasn’t sitting next to any of these owners co-signing millions of dollars in loans for new boats. It’s their silver as long as I get my fair wage I’m fine. I don’t remember seeing any press gangs in Fourchon. They can be ultra rich and have all the fancy cars and yachts they want. You’re deluded into thinking they owe us more of their profits. That’s that whole “you didn’t build that” mentality you and your president have.

Hijack engaged…

and “thus spoke Zarathustra” as the great unwashed masses of white male Fox News watching Americans play right into the hands of Karl Rove (aka Turdblossom) and the powers of wealth for which he is a mouthpiece for by voting against their economic self interests and instead voting for the almighty trio of God, Guns and Gays which the Republicans discovered they can use as a wedge to trick these voters to supporting lower taxation for both corporations and the very wealthy in the Great US of A.

A few years back, I worked on a R/V. The company chartering it told us the year before, Mr. Gary contracted them to survey a deep water entrance. It would end up by Floatation Canal. I can only imagine that the permits have got be a new circle of Hell to get to get past.
