Red Sea Shipping Crisis:

They have a history of that, HMS Sheffield springs to mind.

Why wait till the Houthis get lucky and kill a bunch of sailors? The tepid response by nations with shipping interests under attack will give Iran a green light to provide the Houthis with more effective missiles.
Once again, where’s the UN? There’s no ambiguity in UNCLOS’s interpretation of the concept of freedom of navigation.
Article 87: “The high seas are open to all States, whether coastal or land-locked” and lists “freedom of navigation” as the first of several rights for all states on the high seas.

It’s not safe sailing in or near the Red Sea, or the Med. Anyone who is joining deep sea ships should ask before signing articles where they are heading. If you’re not getting significantly more $$ and insurance, you are making a mistake.
A lot of these companies aren’t telling the sailors what the risks are, or they’re minimizing the risks. If you are getting fired upon, it is not safe. Even if a Navy ship or the Dome takes care of the attack, it’s still not safe.
Mariners have enough to deal with without getting put in harms way unknowingly. Anyone of us could have joined the Navy if I wanted to go to war, not the merchant marines.

is there there any drama in the middle east NOT funded by Iran?

Sooooo

Who is providing the over-the-horizon targeting and guidance for these missiles ?

They can’t be just using terminal guidance.

I don’t think the Houthis have any airbourn surveillence assets.
apart fom a dude in a Hip with binos.

CIA & Biden assist!

I did hear that Iran like most middle east countrys wants rid of palestine so they conned hamas into self destruction knowing that would create todays situation

Supposedly there is a mothership of sorts tooling around in the Red Sea gathering intelligence for Houthis/Iran. That may be how they get positions, etc

The Egyptian navy has at least one Perry FFG (which carry a 76mm gun), I’m sure that would take care of the problem. Then they can get back to collecting their tolls/Marlboros for the Suez Canal.

“The U.S. Navy helicopters returned fire in self-defense, sinking three of the four small boats, and killing the crews,” the US Navy reported in a statement. “The fourth boat fled the area.”

Yeah, the UAE funds quite a bit and the Saudi’s do as well.

Here’s one of two possibilities .

An Iranian spy ship, the Behshad, associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is believed to have played a role in disclosing the Galaxy Leader’s location to the Houthis.

and the other one:
The MV Saviz is registered with the International Maritime Organization as a civilian cargo ship and owned by the IRISL Group, which is owned by the Iranian government. The vessel has been in position for several years in the Red Sea, close to the Eritrean coast.

It’s getting interesting over there.

DUBAI, Jan 1 (Reuters) - Iran’s Alborz warship has entered the Red Sea, the semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Monday

The USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier strike group will leave the eastern Mediterranean Sea more than two months after being sent to the region following Hamas’ attack on Israel in October, ABC News reported.

So, with the US retreating from the area, what signals are being demonstrated to “The Axis of Evil”, NOKO, China, Russia, & Iran? ? ? Xi just recently restated his “unification” goal for Taiwan.

2024 will follow the Chinese curse: “May you live in interesting times.”

Don’t worry, we might be sending a gunboat.
The other one has gone to Guyana.

It signals that the US is willing to shoot down the arrows but not the archer.

Or they wanted to turn international sentiment against Israel and increase recruitment for Hamas.

For many years I have had the novel idea of the USA staying away from the middle east as the USA has no idea of the culture there. Better to spend the money at home than in that rat hole. Most of the problems Europe has with immigrants can be traced to the US meddling in the middle east. The USA would be better served taking care of their own citizens and borders. But there is no money to be made with that idea so it is likely not to happen

EDIT: Been a couple of hours, no confirmation from other sources. Seems likely the report is in error.

Houthi rebels in Yemen attacked an American warship in the Red Sea, Israeli media reported.

The two groups engaged in an intense exchange of fire on the scene.

Haven’t seen this reported elsewhere.

Shortest report in the history of reports.

who has ever helped the Palestinians in the middle east…nobody ever
The ottoman empire just said a pain the backside and they cant run themselves what to do with them.
The Egyptians had the same issue when they controlled them
All it is today is a location for a proxy war for the axis if evil to fight the decadent and rich free west…lol
