Questions about a recent upgrade

Maybe you guys can help me understand what is going on.

I hold a 100 ton master, 200 ton mate, 3rd Mate Unlimited and all of which are NC.

I recently turned in some certificates for classes that I have taken and I didn’t receive what I expected. I turned in ECDIS, ARPA, Proficiency in Survival Craft, The NVIC for the managerial thing that mates can do in lieu of the class ( I cant for the life of me remember what it is called). I put on the application that I was submitting to remove a limitation that I had on my lifeboatman endorsement, ARPA, ECDIS, and to remove the “Not valid after December 31, 2016” . I was under the impression that the courses and assessments that I turned in would remove these restrictions.

After getting an initial package of stickers from the Coast Guard, I found that these were not removed. So I called them and asked them what was going on. They said it could be reviewed and they would let me know of the outcome. So now I just received an Email from the USCG stating that my new documents were being mailed out. I checked the website to see what was being sent and it seems to be the same thing that they sent me previously which is no different than what I hold now? The website states that I will have the following:

100 ton master , not valid after December 31, 2016, not valid for ECDIS equipped vessels after December 31, 2016 ( I understand that I havent taken the masters management class but why the ecdis restriction?)

I will attach screenshots so someone can see if I am maybe missing something here. I understand the limitation on the masters license as I havent taken the Leadership and Management class required. The others, I do not understand.

Thanks everyone, if I am missing something or I need to take more classes to remove some of this please lead me in the right direction. I want to remove as many restrictions as I can.

Screen shots aren’t showing up. Only thing I can add in response to your post is I don’t believe leadership and managerial skills would be a requirement for you till you upgrade to a masters ticket above 200grt?

Thanks, I didn’t know that. Soon I will be going for my 2nd mate / 1600 crossover. I will be getting that class either way. I busy can’t figure out why everything else is expiring 2016 even after the classes and ECDIS.

There shouldn’t be any restriction on the 100 ton Master and the restrictions on the 3rd Mate should have disappeared.

What are you looking for? No one here is able to do anything for you. If you don’t think NMC got it right, ask them for a RECONSIDERATION (use that word) of their decision to issue the MMC they did. If they uphold the decision after reconsideration, you can appeal to CG HQ.

I was looking to see if I had everything needed before I asked the CG again. I don’t want to clog up the system if what I was asking for was something where I was in the wrong.

From my understanding, I should have everything needed but I have been known to misunderstand before haha

I would wait until you see the new stickers in person before you do anything.

Well, after all is said and done I got what I needed. I think the evaluator overlooked something in my application. Got it all taken care of with no additional issues!
