Spring season in Texas I use duplex 2x6 loads with good results. Fall season I use 22mag pistol.
Ours starts on March 14th - April 30. My luck the ship will call on the 14th…
Bows (no crossbow) Shotguns 10 ga and smaller using #2 shot or smaller. OR .40 cal or larger handgun (Iron sights) w/ expanding. And that’s all. So this knocks out my trusty .Dan Wesson .357.
I thought about trying those but my shotgun has fixed chokes Mod/Imp. I assumed you needed x-full or xx-full chokes to get them to work well. I also noticed that 3 inch mags just slung the shot out whereas the 2 3/4 worked much better.(stable)
Spring season here is shotgun only. I shoot a full choke with the duplex loads. Fall is anything in the various seasons, bows, crossbows, black powder ect. I wield a mod 48 Smith with 6 in barrel for turkeys. I’ve taken a turkey at 90 yards with it. Depending where I hunt, I use a 44AMP for deer and hogs out to 100 yards with a steady rest. Also an Anaconda with 2 power scope has dropped a nice buck at 150.

I like your laws better. No scopes allowed on hunting handguns here! and NO rimfires. (small game ONLY) 44 AMP the dirty harry auto loader? Awsome!
Thought about using my S$W Governor 2 .45 acp 2 45 Lc and 2 #2 .410… I’d kill something!
Do you shop at a local gun shop around here?? Only one or two around that are worth a damn. About the same for ranges.
Most of the time i get my toys from armslist. As far as ranges go the only one I goto is Three Brothers south of bay minette on 59. Max range is steel @300 yards. Fun with the Mosin M91/30,M44 or PSL54c. I’m a vet so I can shoot for $5. They have a yearly membership with unlimited visits don’t know how much that is.
I got 2 of the .22 rifled chamber inserts and tried it. Dang talk about cool. Now I got a double barrel .22 as well
I have a 12 g stoeger coach supreme which has screw in chokes . I wanna say it was maybe an extra 75 bucks for the supreme model which has the screw in chokes , a better recoil pad and a different finish on the walnut stock . Either way , I turned this gun into my designated turkey gun . Truglo makes an extended choke tube that’s compatible with the gun and turns them 20" barrels into 22 3/8" barrels which gives me a little more reach . 3 inch winchester longbeard xr’s do some major damage even at 40 yards ,and yes these guns kick hard . I ended up putting a adjustable recoil pad on the gun which helps alot with the punch . Also installed a magnetic fiberoptic foresight on the gun, sounds silly but the sight hugs the rib perfectly between the barrels and avoided a trip to the gunsmith to drill holes . Honestly for 15 bucks , well worth the simple upgrade . So all in all these guns can make a great compact gun to take out into the turkey woods and are great looking as well
