Don Josberger got his ears chewed off with this one… his response has been typical: no response — or he ducks out Irish Goodbye style from union meetings for “more important meetings” sorta like we heard he did at the SUNY Admiral’s Dinner.
It’s gonna start to suck pretty bad.

The vote was just for the mates. The mates were non-union.
Engineers are still MEBA.

If it’s just Mates, then MMP was the most obvious choice. Especially if they are joining as A books.
Can anyone translate this for me? Never worked for a union company, so I have no idea what any of this means, but I’m curious.
All in an MMP box boat pays half as OSG tankers? That’s a fuckin crazy salary if that’s what OSG is paying
I personally would never go near a tanker, regardless of the wages. Maybe that will keep some of the tankerheads there (due to wages or familiarity) or they’ll tire of the hall system and move on.
Someone says they aren’t getting A-Books for two years but others say it’s right away. I haven’t heard the straight dope yet…
I’m the same way. I’m retiring before I go to tankers or cable ships.

not possible. I believe per day box boat makes more than tankers. But you may be guaranteed more days on a tanker than a box boat so possible to make more that way?

You have no idea about pay. There is no way a osg 3m is pulling in 50k per month.

125! Wow. I bet half of those are third mates too. They are all going to try to run with their A books to outbid all the applicants and C books. It’s a bad time (and will be for awhile) to be in MMP as an applicant, C, or B book that’s for sure.
Watch this lead to a greater shortage of tanker mariners- OSG is going to be hurting when all their jobs are sitting open board and only MMP mate with no PICs in the halls.
That was part of MMPs pitch. Now let’s see if they honor it.
