Newly Hired -- Noble Training Question
Hi,

I just recently graduated and was hired on by Noble Drilling as a Third Mate Unlimited in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ve taken my DP Basic Course, but I need to take the Advanced Course in a few hitches from now. Does anyone know what Noble’s training policy is? Do they pay for the course? Do they pay you day rate to take the course? Thanks in advanced.
I’m just curious how the fuck this guy got hired by Noble as a trainee right now when there are plenty of Unlimited license holders with full DP out of work.

They probably have a police to hire a few new kids to support the schools.

It could that the kid was an intern last summer with an expectation that he would be hired on graduation.

The answer 90% of the time is some sort of personal relationship within the company. Its how the business world works after all.

Nah, they like Mass-holes at Noble. Good question though as to why they would hire a new vs someone with experience, that way you are mesmerized during your initial training and you buy right into it, as opposed to knowing there are other ways to do a job.
