I can tell you that in the past 8 years of being a member of this forum that I have either directly or indirectly help many mariners with information or my professional opinion. I haven’t always said what people wanted to hear, but I have always been honest. Some like me and some don’t. I could care less if I offended anyone, but one thing is for certain. I do care about people in general and this forum has helped thousands.
Check your training matrix. If it is a required course then they will pay for it. If it isn’t then you are probably SOL. With the patch in the shape it is in right now many companies have cut all non required courses.
