I just got my twic card and have no experience offshore not to sure where to look everything I look at says must have experience where should I look thanks
Just read the entire “knocking on doors in louisiana” thread.
I’ve read all of that just I guess my problem is I don’t know where to knock on doors I live about 10 minutes from the city just need to know where to look
If you live 10 minutes in any direction from New Orleans and you still are at a loss there is no hope for you.

there are more where that came from…
Well I have been in the warehouse field for most of my life everyone I know is in warehouse just thought I could get some real response not telling me crap like that
Check out list of companies to apply too. A little creativity goes a long ways on here.

well obviously you never made the slightest effort to do any homework such as reading a single old thread in this forum before jumping in here and opening you big Bazoo with a question which has been asked over and over and OVER and OVER again here in the past 5 years. We are frankly sick to death of this same thing happening literally everyday now!
wise words to heed from another current thread
you can already tell there are a lot of short fuses on here, but it is a great place for info. just search first, ask questions much, much later.
you’ll find there are very, very few unturned stones amongst these salts.
On top of this all you have received up to this point is an effing TWIC card!..don’t you even know that you need an MMC before you can be employed in most of the offshore industry? Do you even know what MMC stands for? DO THE GODDAMNED RESEARCH FIRST and you might be able to then get the kind of response you are hoping for and not the dumptruck load of crap that you received instead. Professional mariners like others who are self starters and learners and cannot abide those who need their little hands to be held for them. What type will you be tomorrow? Hmmm?
There should be a forum "New to g.captain…Now how do I get a job ?!
Hey, I’ve seen some tv programs about boats that catch crabs up I’m Alaska. Given any thought? Even dredging gold. Tv wouldn’t lie. Right?
I like the guys that bid on lost shipping containers. I think you need a Twic to get inside the gate in order to bid?
As far as I know, you need a TWIC to get “un-escorted access” to the port. My wife stayed a couple of times aboard ship (no TWIC). I had to meet her at the gate. This was a few years back, things might of changed.
Hey I got’s a TWIX
Perfect for bribing gate guards all over New Orleans area to sneak onto docks. Phat watchmen just love that krispy krunchy chocolaty goodness but tossing them a bottle of Ripple or Mad Dog 20/20 laced with a Mickey Finn doesn’t hurt either!
Same with Oakland, Long Beach, and Honolulu. Sometimes a pizza will do.

Most of the east coast ports are pretty strict, Norfolk especially. I’m not saying I haven’t seen a Captain or CM sneak a “lady friend” aboard but it’s not like the gate guards are letting you walk in without a TWIC.
