Navy Knowledge Online

This is a great learning tool. I’ve been using if for a couple of years. If you are active duty, retired military, gov’t employee or contractor, or military dependent, you can enroll and with an account, access and complete dozens of courses.

I believe you can also register as a guest user, but I haven’t tried that so I don’t know what features a guest account allows you to access. But give it a shot!

Here’s an example of some of the fare on offer:

Basic Engineering core courses like general plant safety, valves, ballasting, OWS operation and maintenance, gears, tanks and voids, you name it

Then there is a large section on Damage Control: Firemain system, ship stability, pipe patching and plugging, ventilation, watertight enclosures, etc

Then there are specific engineering sections for diesel, electrical, gas turbine, steam, auxiliaries…even a Woodward governor course.

It’s a smorgasbord of learning and it’s sorta free (your taxes pay for it). If you can take advantage of it, use it.
