Just wondering if anyone has had success with the job sites such as Rigzone? As a recent maritime academy graduate I have been trying all resources and have not had much luck yet. Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
-Alex

Leave no stone unturned. Best to you in your search.
Where have you graduated from and what ticket do you have I might be able to help you out depending on where you wana go.
Captainbry,
I graduated from Mass Maritime with a 3rd Mate Unlimited. I am looking all over for employment. At this point I am not going to be to picky. I am just anxious to get me feet wet.
Thanks,

I submitted numerous resumes on Rigzone and got two responses. I interviewed and was hired by one company. The whole process took about 6 weeks. Although I did not have any DP experience at the time, the company was willing to train me for the position. It seems that many companies only advertise in order to build up their databases of prospective candidates; however, as I experienced, some are earnestly and actively seeking candidates for immediate employment. Good luck.
There are a couple of others to try. But you will mostly find just what Saltydog says, that they are building their databases. Try http://www.maritimeemployment.com/ but only take any notice of the top 2 or 3 job postings. They tend to leave the jobs up there for ever to make it look better. Also take a look at http://www.faststream.us/Commercial_marine they recruit for international companies. However right now there just is not much out there at all.
Try catching up to someone who’s a grad. in the last few classes. Know a few are with Maersk/T.E.CO etc. It’s been great to see U.S. Seafarers publicly acknowledged for their skills and integrity! Good hunting to you.
