Not yet…
My whole boat got a raise. We pumped off some ballast water.
If there was a raise, and it is a secret, and it did indeed start on the 1st day of the last quarter, then it won’t be evident until 1-2 days prior to the pay date of the 22nd for those folks that get their paystubs via email, and later for those that choose to have their Chouest love notes mailed to them via snail mail. I wouldn’t get your Chouesticles in a bind just yet because a company that size can’t keep secrets like that from surfacing so… let us know how that works out for ya’s.
Again I ask why would any company be giving a raise right now? We are making ludicrous money as it is. Everyone’s concern should be on saving all the extra coin you can. The next bust, stock market crash, space alien invasion or Armageddon is around the corner. If you can’t live off the ridiculous amount of money you are making now you need to ask some of these unemployed dual master degree people how to budget your income. Don’t get me wrong raises are nice. I’m skeptical any company gives another bump until maybe next summer when new boats start hitting the water if even then. Why would Gary give a raise? I haven’t heard of a mass exodus of people from there. Is everyone holding off on quitting until they see what the raise is? If so then this thread is working just like they planned it.
ECo would put out a raise to stay competitive with HOS and Candies. All three companies need new officers and no applicants will have a preference to work for the lowest paying company. Chouest is paying $100-200 less than the competition and they need to retain and hire good officers.
Not sure who you talked to mudengineer but Chouest is not the lowest. Might not be the highest but not the lowest either. If you feel like your not being paid good enough maybe it’s job performance related.
Marineengineer not mudengineer. My fault.
I’ve been in contact with ECO, HOS, and OCLLC. I’ve been told by each one that they are in a freeze at the moment to varying degrees. At least that is the case for engineers right now. I would accept a position at any one of them if it was offered. It doesn’t seem like they are in a mode of throwing money around right now, but maybe I’m wrong.
Elcapitan- I have no issues with my day rate. I was stating the reasons that Chouest would give a raise. I am loyal to the company and simply stated I know people making more. Nice angle on the job performance bit, I didn’t mean to insult you.
I contacted Nicky Collins last week and submitted an application and resume. He said they didn’t have anything immediately available but he would keep my app. handy. Not like I really want to leave the job I have now, but apparently there’s a $300/day discrepancy in pay.
