I’ve been out of town for a few days and just read this post… I must say wow. While my illustrious career is sprinkled with errors made and subsequently identified by Chief Engineers this is the first such instance related to the written word. I do admire your willingness to spend time below decks with the ad men, pay-per-click marketers and other venerated souls who, like the myriad of engineers thanklessly applying their talent on every task short of those which bring self benefit (e.g. repair of their own stateroom showers), keep this vessel powered and underway.
For the rest of uS feckless soles and imperious masters I encourage you to visit the bowels of this ship and, if willing, support this forum with the purchase of an ad promoting your services. Clearly some of the individual talent described here could be monetized with well place advertisement. I predict some ads (like a simple text ad stating "CLICK TO SEE THE PURPLE SPAM MAN (anchorman) SING ‘I BELIEVE I CAN FLY’ to his Chamorrian PRINCESS) would have high click thru rates while others (like an animated banner promoting Capt_A’s deflationary technique) would underperform more traditional services.
Regardless of your desire for self promotion the cure for priapism can not be found by visiting the 3 sites Cheng mentions above, but rather in clicking the links of our advertisers who generously support our right to self deprecation.

It seems like some of the excellent suggestions from ChEng, CAPTMRB and others is difficult to implement with this forum software. Their are other software options but none of them are quite as simple to use. The intent of this forum has been to provide simplicity to encourage comments.
Which do you preffer: simpicity or features?
Do you think the migration to a new software package and making people re-register will cost us members?

I suppose it depends on what you want it to evolve to John. In a lot of ways I think the current forum is just fine for what we do, but there are others that want to take it to the next level as a communications forum for our industry. vBulletin is what a friend of mine ended up using for his forum, and he raves about it.
Either way, thanks for taking the time and effort to have brought us this far…being the slovenly, hapless bunch that we are, who would have imagined?

However discerning my latest input my seem to some, considering the typical sailor, “My last comment”, will likely be the one that will be most useful of all remarks to date. It will provide countless hours of clean, safe recreation for those who choose to explore it.
I am somewhat surprised that the comment on porn was percieved as distasteful considering the questionably (un) politically correct remark I had made in reference to the size of the Asian genitals.

When at sea, using a sketchy internet connection, (dail-up speed), your site loads so slow that I can’t even spend the time to open it.
Why is that?
