European Short Sea ship design

A new design for European Short Sea trade has been launched:


Not built for beauty but to be efficient and environmentally friendly.

OCEAN7 Projects is counting the days until they can welcome MV CELTIC into the Ocean7 fleet. Some of her most interesting features, amongst other, are:

  • 95x16m unobstructed deck space
  • RoRo ramp for heavy cargoes
  • fully IMO fitted under deck.
  • open top notation

Wilson ASA is happy to announce that they now have launched the third Wilson Flex vessel of a total of five of out of the new 4200 DWT MPP “Hanse Eco” series. To meet requirements and targets for emission reductions set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a fleet renewal is needed. We continuously assess all possibilities for fleet renewal that can strengthen the environmental profile of the company in combination with sustainable financial operations.Wilson ASA would like to raise a big thank you to our partners Arkon Shipping GmbH & Co. KG and Rhenus SE & Co who have initiated this newbuilding project. We have reached an important milestone and we are proud to see our new vessels in the water.

Retrofit better than newbuilding??:


Great view of hull 358 and hull 359 currently in build at Thecla Bodewes Shipyards in Kampen. VERTOM PATTY is being prepared for her first seatrials starting next week. VERTOM CYTA is on schedule to be launched early next year. In the meantime construction works on hull 360 have started. VERTOM PATTY is the first 7.000 tdw multipurpose vessel in a series of six Thecla Bodewes Shipyards is building for Vertom Group.

On my pc display I see her clearly going eastwards, hence sunrise

A pessimist would see her heading West.

This one IS heading West, but not because of pessimisme:


Ferus Smit Shipyard’s latest newbuilt SYMPHONY ATLANTIC passed Texel on one of the first voyages, departed Finland beginning of last week, heading for USA.
