Anyone heard of this place and know what happens to vessels that go there? I would think a layup facility or scrap yards but perhaps someone can enlighten me.
Thanks

I don’t know, Linda Rondstadt always made it sound so idyllic.

Never heard of it. . . where is it? Do you mean that area near the Larose Bollinger Yard? I have been seeing vessels stack in there for years. . . not sure if it is permanent for any particular reason, may just be a reasonably cheap place to store vessels until. . . . .
Not 100 percent sure myself on the location although near Fourchon would be the best indication I could give. I am guessing you are right with the idea on cost.

The place I am thinking of is a ways from Fourchon, but is on the way if you are driving from Houma. . . .
Cold and Luke warm lay-ups. It is on the north side of the ICWW just east of the Bourg Bridge that is currently being rebuilt.
this the place?
betcha not much room at the inn these days…
I think so, I had to take a boat up there and stack it a few weeks ago for my company (not mine, thank god).

That’s what she said! Ba’dump tssssss! Lol
Actually it wasn’t too bad, its not nearly as bad people think. I just wish I could work over more this time of year so I don’t have to freeze my ass off back up in Montana!
This was the place that I was thinking of. . . .
Thanks Gents considering I’m a desk jockey and never get out this helps tons.

boneyard
That’s the Bollinger Boneyard it’s been there since 1980 and it’s filling up quick.
I remember during the bloodletting of 99 Turdwater had 120ish boats in bayou blue alone. The Larose yard had couple hundred more with various old company emblem on them. Zapata, Gulf Fleet,Mar Sea, Oil & Gas, Seahorse, Point Marine, Petrol Marine, it was like an OSV encyclopedia in there.
Not only on the bayous that there are OSVs in layup:
Bet the boys in Fosnavag and Alesund aren’t likin’ THAT too much. Ouch. Least they’ve got some krill boats…

You seams to know your way around Sunnmore very well. What is the relation?
The Fosnavaag boys and others have taken a beating on their speculative investment in World Wide Supply AS.
But it opens opportunities for others. How does buying 6 top of the line PSVs for USD 1.75 Mill. sound like to you?: http://www.smp.no/naeringsliv/2016/01/09/Ingen-hast-for-supply-eier-12007494.ece
Sorry, article in Norwegian, but Google translate should give you an idea.(Maybe also a laugh for those who understand the original text)
The new Owner is looking for buyers. Any takers on the Forum?
Ohh, before somebody tells me I’m an idiot and don’t understand anything; there is also the debts behind each vessel to be considered before the seller can count his profit. (or loss?)
No relation to Sunnemore, except over the years I’ve met with some of the boys in Fosnavag and looked at that cool stuffed eagle in the restaurant. My family is from over Buskerud way … Swedes that apparently came across to Fredrikstad back in about 1615 and cross pollinated with some Rasmussens, near as we can tell. Our branch made for the US in about 1910 for reasons unknown, and took up in boat building, bootlegging and fishing over here.

I hope you keep up the traditions from the “old country”.
Nice mix of professions. Which was the most profitable??
Anything to do with Rederiet Trico Supply AS, later Eastern Marine Services Limited?
I arranged charter the Northern Comrade for a small job in Singapore back in 2009. Profitable for both parties, if I remember right.
Probably the fishing …
We keep well in touch with the family back home, and visit when we can.
In the mean time, we just watch Ylvis for the laughs and humor.
Sorry, don’t discuss business here. Just visit to rile up c.captain and the USCG now and then.
