North American Shipyard - Larose

While crossing the Intracoastal Bridge today I noticed at the North American yard something interesting. The superstructure and the bow section of an older vessel were sitting on land to the west of the shed and dry docks. It looked like it could possible be from the Ryan Chouest as that vessel was parked there for several weeks not terribly long ago. I passed by on Tuesday and didn’t notice the items at the time as I always glance at what’s going on over at the shipyard.

Anyone know for sure what they plan on doing with the items and which vessel it once was?

Looked to me like the wheelhouse and bow off the Akira. Someone told me it was sold to oceaneering???

But why would they have cut them off?

It is the Akira. I heard through grapevine it was being re-engined and extensively modified. Impressive seagoing workboat when she came in and out of Fourchon.
