I mean we still have the Cape K class Ro/Ro’s in the RRF…right?
how much did MarAd pay for all this? Probably more than a million total! More fucking waste by the most inept department in the entire Federal Administration!

I wonder what the scrap value is on that?
Hi C. Captain- do you have another pic? What was it? Pic is gone…
As to Marad waste yeah, they love to burn bucks as if they grew on trees, to wit: the expensive upgrades on steam ships that will never again sail a mission and will likely be phased out by the current drop-dead date of 2020. I have uploaded some of my own pics in the photo thread. That money would be better spent to subsidize Jones Act container ships but I guess that’s just my .02 cents.
yeah it all sold but I never saw for how much it went for…probably pennies! Fucking MarAd…I hate those lousy emeffing sonzabitchez!
Yeah, but what was sold? The pic you linked is no longer there. What was in the photo?

Oh fer Chrissake. They must be selling the contents of their Cheatham Annex warehouse. I had a falling out with my biggest contact there at Marad so I don’t get all the gossip anymore.
But they still maintain some 40-50 odd ships. Watch, they’ll need a bearing or a seal and pay Wartsila a million gazillion bucks for it, too.
I’ll be on the Cape Ray/Race/Rise in the next few weeks. It’ll be interesting to see what they are hearing.

No, these weren’t in Virgina but in New Orleans. The two Cape K’s were there I recall at the Navy docks.

They are still there. We still get monthly logs from them. I visited once, in 2008. You have to drive though some warehouse areas off Rampart. So that’s where the parts were?
That’s not good news for those ships. Buh bye.
I saw them down there this past weekend through my hungover morning haze. . . .
