I have a western rivers steersman license and some steering time, but the company im with doesnt put anyone in the program unless they’re daddy or grandpa is s captain. Help?

You are finding out one of the thorny issues with this new apprentice license. Most companies aren’t hiring just an apprentice. They want you to be a deckhand. Then in your off watch time you are supposed to do the TOAR thing. Make sure wherever you go the guy is a DE.
