The Aiviq arrived at terminal 5 in Seattle from Everett. I expect to see the Polar Pioneer rig at this same terminal in a few weeks as well. It is in Port Angeles now.
I think I can see the fuel overflow tank vents on the 02 deck…

are you kidding? the big blue whale has been holding up the dock in Everett for over two years now. They probably had to dredge a channel to get it away from its berth.

What is the official home port of the Aiviq? I’m assuming its not branded saying “Galliano, LA” like the rest of US flagged ECO boats

I bet it is…anyway, would be at the USCG PSIX website if you want to look it up
Thanks for that website, I didn’t see anywhere about homeport, though.

Cant wait for the Aiviq to come cruisin by Kodiak again with a rig in tow…
yeah just banjo 'stringing that tow wire and adding magical one of a kind fuel contamination as she goes, maybe even bust a ‘buckle’ or two on the way if the party gets wild enough

ABS says Galliano, LA
For the folks outside of Western Washington I’ll provide a bit of background. Port of Seattle Terminal 5 was vacated by Eagle Marine Services (apparently operating the terminal for APL) and Westwood last summer in preparation for renovating the terminal but well before there were plans/permits/contracts for the renovation in place. This fall the Port leased the pier side and possibly some terminal space to Foss so it would generate some revenue rather than remaining unoccupied with the understanding that Foss would be hosting Shell’s arctic drilling fleet there. This has caused a certain amount of controversy since many Seattle area residents are rather opposed to the oil industry in general (and arctic oil exploration in particular) and there’s beenlots of press coverage, attempts to micro-manage the port, and there will be protests as drill rigs arrive. Aiviq shifting berths thirty miles South from Everett is just the beginning. The Polar Pioneer rig is currently sitting aboard Dockwise’s Blue Marlin anchored in Port Angeles. The circus will really start when Polar Pioneer arrives in Seattle.
Drove by her today it’s hailing from LA indeed.

Oh good grief yeah that’s going to be a colossal cluster you-know-what indeed. Thanks for the primer.
At least we are fortunate that Chouest didn’t claim a homeport of Kodiak, Dutch Harbor, or Seattle.
It’s much better to let Galliano take the credit for Aiviq.
Whats its new class designation
"Osv that can go out to sea?"
Whats its new class designation
"Osv that can go out to sea?"
Well, it can still break a over three feet of ice at 5 knots…
Has that ever been proven or tested?
Has that ever been proven or tested?
Why prove or test? It is built by the same folks that put in the fuel management system so what could go wrong?
