2025 Mariner Pay All In

I See the 2024 one still has legs and someone started one for Limited License but I’d be curious what’s on for 2025, Tankers, Dredges, Tugs etc …
Offshore Dilling in the Gulf:3rd Mate Equivalent/ DPO for offshore drilling looks to be 130 on the low end 165 a year on the high end. 145 to 185 for 2nd Mate Sr DPO. However with the Gulf stagnant now and looking like 2027 for any growth with only 3 majors + Seadrill (not a major)+ Stena … wages to remain flat with downward pressure once Noble “harmonizes” the Diamond fleet they acquired.
What are you guys seeing out there?

Is this a question or a statement?

Edited to ensure there is a question in there :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Do you work for Noble?

No sir, on an extended hiatus from drilling and been hopping around.

Drillship SDPO $168,000 + 15% Foreign Service Premium = $193,000ish

How is that broken down? Is it a day rate+vacation or something else? As a tug and barge guy, we’re straight day rate +$50 per day for travel.

To be honest, nobody knows, not even our payroll department – but the checks keep clearing!

Most Drilling companies salary their marine crews at least the DPOs on up so you work your 21 or your 28 day on and they pay your base rate so in this case if it’s 168k a year that breaks down to 168,000 / 180 so the day rate is approx $933

From people I’ve spoken with, some pay scales I’ve seen floating around, and my own experience…tankers, as a day rate including vacation…3Ms high 600s to low 800s. 2Ms mid 700s to mid 900s. CMs mid 900s to 1100/1200 give or take….depending on company. Sorry the numbers are not more exact.

Tugboat captain $1000 per day, plus all the typical benefits:

the 401k match is about $50 a day,
it’s hard to say what the health insurance is worth, but probably about another $50 a day, and
paid travel, including baggage fees, Ubers, meals and hotels.
There is a Christmas bonus too.

These days, there are not many tugboat companies left (north of I-10) that don’t provide health insurance, 401k, and travel.

Were you seeing 1000k per day? Inquiring minds want to know.

Yes, $1000 a day.

Tug captain wages are about the only ones that haven’t ‘stagnated’ too much. Never thought I’d ever say that 800 a day is definately on the lower end these days.

Any Cm job is 1k+ a day minus OsVs or ATBs

The day rate or salary has always been just part of the compensation. The healthcare insurance cost and quality and the pension or 401k is a big one. Some companies have good health policies and others do not. Some unions have a good pension and some companies had excellent 401K matches like 200% of the the first 5% of contributions and one put 6% into the employees 401k even if the employee put in 0. These benefits can quickly add up and should be calculated into any “day rate” or salary for a fair comparison.

Depends on the OSV too. Some C/Ms at my company are a little north of $1k or just under.
