I’m new to the site and looking for a little help. I was recently approved to test for my crossover exam from 2/M to 1600 Master. I’ve been studying ship’s business and shiphandling/maneuvering questions so far. Has anybody taken this test recently who could tell me what other types of questions I can expect? I have the Murphy books, but it seems like alot to study for only 70 questions. Thanks in advance for your input- much appreciated!!

I would get with Richard Plant. His address is on Lapware.org. He’ll have up-to-date information. It’s not a very hard test, and yes, anything can be on it, but ship’s business is a focus area.
It’s an online study guide website that let’s you take a test for any type of maritime endorsment. You can keep taking the test over and over and it tracks your scores each time you take it so you know if your getting better. (this is just for practice) but will help you prepair for the real thing. You have to set up a password account just like this site but it’s “FREE”. Can’t beat anything that’s free these days. Good Luck to you on the CG exam.
Seasources.net is a terrific site. I used it to practice my celestial for my oceans upgrade. The guy did a great job setting up the site. You’ll find it very useful for anything you’re studying.

I just took the crossover exam a couple of months ago. I definitely had shiphandling and ship’s business on it, but it also had stability, and a bunch of pretty easy navigation questions. The bummer is that it really is a potpourri of stuff, so you do have to have pretty rudinmentary knowledge of everything. But, the good news is that 70% is pretty easy to get.
Good luck!
