Yes, very much so. We had a great Ghana crew, far better than the GOM deckhands with the “Not my job” mentality.

I always felt safe in Ghana the limited amount of time I was off the boat. Made some good friends there.

I think that mentality is a world wide epidemic.

Has anyone worked in Benin or Gabon ? Looks like I might be working there in the future

I spent a bit of time in Cameroon ashore. Nowhere near as bad as Nigeria. I felt safe walking round the town in the day time. Of course being the only white guy walking in the heat meant that EVERY cab driver stopped and asked me if I wanted a ride. . . . .
