Edison Chouest Boat C-Retriever Attacked Off Nigeria

If anyone has further details on this incident please post or contact usdirectly.

A security boat manned with Joint Task Force (JTF) Nigeria personnel was allegedly attacked by militants this morning off Brass, Nigeria. According to one of our sources, all JTF personnel were killed and their weapons taken by the militants.
“This is the second attack on a security boat in the past three days,” our source adds.
Additional gCaptain sources also indicate that the Edison Chouest-owned, US-flagged platform supply vessel C-Retriever was working in a nearby field and was also attacked, an incident that our sources indicate was unrelated to the attack on the JTF personnel. Our source notes that the Captain and Chief Engineer, who are both US citizens, were kidnapped, but we have been unable to confirm.

Hadn’t heard anything about it within the managers meeting in fourchon yesterday? Hope for the best!!

I hope the best for the crew, prayers said for them.

To all please keep prayer’s coming for the 2 sailors and their family’s,

Looks like this story is gaining steam in the media. Saw a link on Drudgereport.com and Google news this morning.
Hopefully, a tall-can of whoop-ass is cracked open on these shitballs- in the meantime my thoughts and prayers go out to them.

They were working the Agbami Field for Chevron, working with Pacific Bora. This is the second time this has happened to this vessel.

I saw it on MSN.com this morning so if those nincompoops have it then it’s definitely made national headlines. The article had a quote from an anonymous source that said the government’s official plan of action at the moment was to do nothing. WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

This has been going on for years over there and there’s still no fix for the problem.

The multi-national anti-piracy task force on the east coast was working pretty well until the paradigm shift of the pirates went to the west coast. It’s time to take the action to the other coast!

So the Nigerans sent a boat out to chase away pirates and the pirates killed them and stole their guns?
Remind me to not sail to Nigeria in the near future.

CNN news. Just did a piece on it.

Nothing we already don’t know but thought I would share.

There will be a ransom, it will be paid, and they will probably be released in about 7-12 days. More than likely they are being held in a hotel, being fed and treated rather nicely, even for the situation, Thats how it goes over there in WA with these situations. All we can do, is hope that it does go exactly how it has in the past and they are re-united with their families in a week or so.

Any official statement from ECO?

We can only hope, they are not in the jungle

It really is amazing how little people know about the US Merchant Fleet and OSVs

So the latest update is that the Nigerian Navy is going to attempt a rescue:

Nigerian Navy To Attempt Rescue Of American Captain And Chief Engineer

I have no confidence in any organization that rescues anyone by first issuing a press release about it… so I hope Gary Chouest is able to stop the madness and get the professionals (Navy SEALS) to go in and do the job right. He “should” have enough clout in the navy to pull it off but, if not, I certainly know a few former S.E.A.L.s who will do the job (and do it right!) on a freelance basis.

Yes, id make a joke (been at the bar all afternoon) but with American seaman live’s at stake it’s really time for Obama to order the merchant marine treatment a la captain philips!

None of this Nigerian capgun bullshit
(Target practice)

Sadly…I have to agree. I don’t see it going well.
