Work for 100 ton

Hello All,

Ive tried to search for this topic as Im sure it has been discussed. I currently have a 100 ton Master Near Coastal/ Radar Unlimited and STCW. Would I be able to find any work in the Gulf? General idea of pay? Where do you recommend I look?

Crew boat companies. Do you have experience with platform supply? If not you’ll start as a deckhand.

No experience with platform supply. Any idea what kind of pay I would be looking at? Any ideas on where to look? I’m motivated and will do my best to find the work if it’s there. Just curious what kind of chances I have of actually finding work.

If you come on down and knock on doors (see multiple threads), and you have some actual 100-ton commercial experience (whether oilfield or not), you should be able to find a wheelhouse job on a crewboat, mini-supply or utility boat. It’s not glamorous, and the schedule will likely be 14/7 or 28/14, but it will get your foot in the door and give you some solid oilfield experience.

You will be looking at $280-$350/day starting, depending on whether the company drops you into a “third captain” (mate) position or you ride “extra” as a “training captain” for a while. I have done the 100-ton knocking-on-doors trip twice, the first time with no experience working platforms or rigs, and had multiple offers each time. Thanks for this Captain, I was doing an exact search on this before starting an OP, in order to avoid the sticks. Now that I see you have answered the question ~ pay rate ~ I was wondering if you would mind a PM from me with a further question concerning companies and the list I have gathered?
