But the "VI/6: Vessel Personnel Designated with Security Duties / Security Awareness " is on there twice is the normal way? Is it printed twice once for VPDSD and then once again for SA? I know VSO makes you qualified for both of them just though it looks weird under my STCW international section to see the same STCW code printed twice. Just wondering.
I’m more interested in how long your turnaround was?
I sent my VPSSD in last week along with Adv FF…waited to send both (sorry guys, money is my limiting factor as far as taking courses) and I’m hearing long lead times to get the stickers.
On the formatting- I’d not worry too much about it unless something you submitted was missing. A phone call may clear things up.
Took 13 days to go from REC Memphis to NMC. Then 7 days to get thru Medical. Only a few days to be evaluated. Once it was approved to issue it was 19 days before it printed and got mailed. So about a month and my application wasn’t missing anything. I also got the Medical papers at the same time.

VPDSSD and SA are separate endorsements, but they are both specified in the same section of STCW. So that section is cited for each of the two separate endorsements you have. The reason they are all listed is because in the past, NMC did not add pre-requiste endorsements if you held a superior endorsement. This caused some problems with some foreigh port state control and now all endorsements are listed, even if you hold a superior endorsement.

Submitted mine to REC Baltimore mid-Nov. It processed through pretty quick and got Approved to Print at beginning of Dec. But I still haven’t seen it yet.

Emailed my vessel security app and letter on 11/5. Sticker at more door 12/3
It all started with the government shutdown creating a major backlog, then the printers went offline, add to that the new medical certs they are doing for EVERYONE holding an MMC at the same time a major rush for the new vessel security cert…well I can imagine its a pretty big stack of apps over there. Add in the fact that civil service workers tend to not give one single fuck and this is the result.

I suspect that we are seeing another example of how government spins it’s wheels at great expense without accomplishing much. At least they have not contracted in out to Lockheed Martin, if they had it would take twice as long.
