its going to get chopped soon, big shock for many as its totally unsustainable
grow up and train for 25 years, work for 30, retire for 30+ how can the sums add up?
Don’t know about Germany, but in Norway it requires 40 years working life and >67 years of age to obtain full pension. Part pension can be taken at >62, but then with restrictions on how much you can earn beside the pension.
Norway has a huge fund from oil exports royalties, not too many countries that lucky… so your pension funds get topped up.
The rest of the world outside of Australia has nothing saved up less a few huge gov departments and public companies in some countries
The rioters in HK are not gaining much sympathy from Singaporeans, judging by the comments under this article:
How long can the the western media and the US authorities keep on supporting violence that they would not tolerate on home soil??
It is pretty clear that China is not conceding defeat in the Supercomputer race just yet:
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/science/article/3036218/googles-sycamore-breakthrough-doesnt-spell-end-chinas-hopes
But some will stick to their belief that it is only because they are stealing technology for the west, otherwise their self esteem would be ruined.
Maybe a little clear eyed vision of the real world would hurt initially, but it may help to avoid being overtaken in the technology race by refusing to accept reality.
thats great, with their supercomputer they can work out how to make a product the world might want…
The Norwegian pension system is financed through a system called “Folketrygden” (National Insurance Scheme) and administered by an organisation called NAV: https://www.nav.no/en/Home/Rules+and+regulations/Membership+of+the+National+Insurance+Scheme
Everybody working in Norway and their employers contribute to “Folketrygden”, which cover not only “Old Age Pension”, but also “Disability Payment”, payment during “Sick Leave” and “Unemployment” and other social goodies that everybody living and/or working in Norway is entitled to, regardless of their nationality. (That includes refugees and EEA/EU nationals job seekers that has not worked up sufficient resident time in Norway)
The so called “Oil Fund”, which is formally named the Government Pension Fund Global, does not cover the present pension payment, but is a hedge against rainy days in the future. It present contribute less then 4% to the Norwegian Government coffers per year by Law, which is from the annual gain not the principles: Here is it’s official website for those who want to know everything about how this fund functions:
https://www.nbim.no/en/
what percentage of your salary goes into the pension fund?
What return do they give you or is it just a fixed payout regardless of what you contributed?
I’m not able to answer that right away, since I have not been living and working in Norway for many years. I can be find out however.
Or better, somebody with more direct knowledge of the subject may jump in.(??)
In any case, we are getting too far OT. (Maybe an Admin. could move the relevant posts to another thread?)
If you actually think anything in this thread helps feed the topic of “Understanding China,” I have news for you…
No illusion in that respect, but one can always hope that somebody would get it.
With the present atmosphere it is more likely that there will be clamour to ban all Chinese visitors, all Chinese students and even Chinese food.
Maybe even to rename Fortune Cookies to “Freedom Cookies”. or burn Chinese made sneaker (even if they have already been paid for and cost a fortune)
Not so, you cantankerous gasbag. Everyone knows fortune cookies are an American invention.
Yes there is that fact, but French Fries is not really French either, so what is stopping you from doing your patriotic duty?
To something more realistic:
Even if this Law was passed would it have any effect on the HK situation, or on Chinese handling of it??
Most of what goes on in the US Congress is really just for show - and mainly aimed at a small domestic audience.
The real question is why are you so fixated on what our politicians say? No one here gives a hoot what some crazy guy in Norway might say.
Australia got problems of Chinese interference as well
Much of this will go away once the US and China finally decouple their economies. Other countries, like Vietnam and Malaysia, will grow and their own peoples will be better for it. No reason for China to hog it all. China can be like the Soviet Union was. They can make their own rules and have their own axis of likeminded friends with no one telling them what to do.
I can’t wait.
Now you got me laughing! China is THE Largest worldwide thief, patent thief, idea thief and
Technology thief. Period. They were admittedly so backwards as recently as the 1980s. And these massive strides have only been made by blatant thievery and usurpation of ideas, inventions and technology that have been stolen from countries around the globe.
To insinuate China needs ‘protection’ on most tech industry and operations is fully putting your true intentions and ambition into clear focus. Protection from theft for technology they have STOLEN! That’s rich. Humorous. The only way you could be more obvious about who you really are would be if you inserted hanzi in your posts and spelled your name with zing and ming.
Come now Han do tell what your’e really trying to accomplish here. Nothing too subtle you know.
if they were smart they could design and make a product I want…still waiting
They arguably were the first to develop and build a huge wall…
thats true, worked very well, No Mexicans in China
