The Uyghurs get plenty of paid vacation time and free travel to “de-radicalization” camps where they are abused and tortured to help them become better citizens. It’s from “the beatings will continue until morale improves” school of thought.
Hong Kong is more difficult to handle because the eyes of the world are on it.
They are Chinese citizens and thus entitled to the same as every other worker in permanent employment.
If you mean the ones that is in the rehabilitation centres, probably not. Just the same as the asylum seekers in Australian and US detention centres do not get leave.
Is this really your opinion, or, do you just defend what you wrote before?

… and thus entitled to the same right as every worker. In permanent employment…:
What is the definition of ‘permanent worker’?
Do they even have the possibility of getting this status ? -
…If you mean the ones that is in the rehabilitation centres…
I never heard of political rehabilitation centers in Europe, even not in Norway.
Why does someone get into these “education” centers in China ?
Whether they work for a state sponsored or privateer own company anywhere in China the rules are the same. Do you have anything showing that that is not the case?
Even the prisons in Norway, Scandinavia and most of Western Europe are “rehabilitation centres”. I believe that is the case in the UK as well?
I suspect that that is the case in China a well, although in the case of the “education centres” in Xinjiang they are used to “re-educate” those who may be radicalised into becoming terrorists. Isn’t that an admirable way of fighting terrorism, rather than waiting until they have carried out terrorist activity, then killing or jailing them?
Re-education is used in other places too:
Oh, now I’m going to be accused of posting spam for The Times. I guess you get the drift though.
Sorry to throw too much facts into this discussion, but here is an article from yesterdays CNA:
I’m sure somebody will find a sinister angle to this one too.
UPDATE:
Even the former Colonial Master has realised that this is not good for HK, or for the future of the agreement that was struck with China 1984:
Here is another proof of how bad the Commi Chinese treat their children:
They want to protect them from too demanding parents and teachers. This have to be stopped immediately, otherwise it may slow down the time when they overtake the western kids in maths and science.
Oh, it is too late you say?
yeah, he needs to tighten up those suspenders…his buttwhatabout is showing
What subject? You are not on a subject, just trying to find a new angle for your silly remarks.
Come with something backed by facts, not fictions and “believes”.
If you can tear yourself away from Fox News that is. (You would find much facts there)
how can you compare an illegal foreigner with a national with a non compliant religion?
doesnt Finland have the best students who dont learn by rote and dont do homework.
Hence makes them hugely employable
Understanding China (Pro Tip: see the top of the page for the current subject we are on) and the threat they pose.
Facts are there for all to see that aren’t blinded by…whatever is blinding you.
Man, CNN is on a ROLL…
Even those clowns are beginning to ‘Understand China’
It is not illegal to seek asylum, or be classified as a refugee by UNHCR.
Yes that is true, or at least was true. According to the ranking in the World Top 20 ranking of education systems Finland has long been on top, but in the latest such ranking (3rd Quarter 2019) Finland has fallen off that pedestal:
According to the latest PISA ranking Singapore topped the list, with Finland in 8th place:
Even for English proficiency Finland was on top for a long time, but have fallen back a bit here too:
PS> A fresh EF English Proficiency Index will be issued 05. Nov. 2019.
While the HK rioters continue destroying their city the US try to stop a Chinese company from producing rail cars in the US, employing US workers at better than average pay because the rail cars may spy on … (what???):
The next will probably be that Chinese made underwear will be banned because it may spy on American’s virility??
its pretty clear china gov has a massive worldwide espionage racket going on, spies still stealing IP from companies everywhere hence we all know they have no ideas of their own and everyone will always be suspicious.
They havnt yet learnt that when you run your shop by stealing ideas from others you will always be in 2nd place.
You can copy you can make but you still have to be creative and think.
Still waiting to buy that Chinese product I cant be without…
Where’s the Chinese Walkman, Ipod etc?
The HK Gov. will ask China to make it easier for the Hongkeys to live and work on the mainland, especially in the Greater Bay Megalopolis (Pear River bDelta):
It is kind of a reversal from when the main aim was to limit people moving to HK from the mainland.
But it the reflects the changes of fortune that is happening in the world in genera and in China especially.
Is this what some people defend as “lawful protests”?:
The level of violence in HK is going up.This can only end in bloodshed, if it is not contained.
To encourage more violence is irresponsible and do not bring any more democracy to HK. On the contrary, it ensure that it will take longer before that goal can be achieved.
Meanwhile the HK economy and living standard will fall, not improve, causing more hardship for those on the lower rung of the ladder, as well as the middle classes…
The rich will just move, taking their money and businesses with them, having already secured a 2nd passport, properties and right of abode in other countries.
Since much of their business is in mainland China, they may just move across the border to Shenzhen, or to Shanghai, but many will move to Singapore. (It is already happening)
if the rich move HK can reboot and there will be opportunity for young people…
Thats their thinking.
Lots of other young people in other countries just havnt realised they are in the same position in that they will never live as well as their parents or grandparents.
Its not just a HK problem.
Take Germany, 50% of the tax take today is used to fund pensions, that didnt happen when the current retired group were working so they had more pay less tax and gov spending all while they had baby boomer growth worldwide.
When I worked for a German company a German Master was entitled to a pension of 80% of his salary for life on retirement through his union. I had to save for mine.
