The Unlimited gCaptain Music Thread

It’s high time we nuked the bandwidth on this site with music. Post up your favs and playlists here. What do you go to sea with, what do you chill at home with?

No links to illegal downloads. Just post titles/artists or links to a video or audio file.

I’ll start.

Fatboy Slim- Weapon of Choice (with actor Christopher Walken, who is also dancer)

Dear Mr. Walken…

I knew Michael Jackson…I was friends with Michael Jackson…

and you sir are no Michael Jackson!

This is not a bad thing though…

Oh - yeah!

Jonny cash/ Elvis meets heavy metal

I started a blog not too long ago. It’s at www.captjillsjourneys.wordpress.com

one of the things I’ve been doing with it is a weekly (or thereabout) series on Songs of the Sea. Here’s one of my recent posts and a personal favorite.

Here’s another of my favorites.

I don’t ONLY post nautical music, I put some other music I really like on there too. I started my blog to write about working at sea, traveling, and politics, but now I’ve expanded to include food and drinks, art and music, astronomy, science and nature and pretty much anything I think is interesting.

I hope you all will check it out. Let me know how you like it. Any suggesstions for improvement?

I’m sorry but is the vocalist actually singing lyrics? Sounds like a lot of noise to my ears!

At least you can understand the words in a George Thorogood song…

Thanks Ko0k, that song is a perfect fit for my blog series “Songs of the Sea” on Capt Jills Journeys! (www.captjillsjourneys.wordpress.com) I’ll put it on there soon.
I’ve loved that band since I first heard them. I have their album “The King Is Dead”. I really like it. I haven’t ever heard them do this song before.

I hope this thread doesn’t die out. I think it’s a good idea to share good music (and books)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I heard it for the first time several years ago when a friend of mine played an acoustic version of it. It really stuck with me. Speaking of books, I recently finished reading Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. It is a work of fiction based on the author’s life. I can’t say enough good things about the story and the insights contained within. I’ve been to your blog and am really enjoying it. Thanks for putting it out there!

Back in the day, when all we had for labels was the ol’ raised plastic Dymo labels, I made one that said " TIED TO THE WHIPPING POST" and stuck it to the bulkhead above my desk at eye level. . . none of my reliefs EVER took it down. . . .
