That bit of levity is appreciated. As folks get vaccinated the disease will abate. Continuing to wear masks will help and everyone should encourage mask wearing and sanitation. My goodness, in my childhood polio was eradicated but it was because the entire country decided to do so. It was not a political issue it was a national health crisis. We as a nation beat polio. No one in the USA has had polio in many years and it is rare worldwide. Polio like Covid was not a political issue it was a damn disease. I remember as a child complaining about getting a shot in the arm for polio [ later we could get the next dose on a sugar cube] My Dad told me there is no choice, you got to get the shot or you canât go to school and you WILL go to school. Later you will either get drafted or enlist in the army, navy or whoever will have you, it is required to live here in this country. Wonât hurt you, neither will that shot.
I think people were smarter back then when polio, measles etc were eradicated in the USA. They damn sure stuck together better back then.

Within a few months, it will be impossible to get on an airplane without proof of Covid vaccination. Iâm looking forward to it. Within a year, international travel will be difficult without proof of Covid vaccination.

I think mask wearing will be popular long after Covid19 is off the front pages. They say the flu & pneumonia has been way down compared to previous years. I can believe the naysayers somewhat when they say some cases of flu symptoms might have been chalked up to covid but all the masks, hand sanitizer & other covid19 precautions had to hit the brakes on flu/cold/pneumonia spreading IMO. Iâm not on board with Covid19 Gestapo tactics like tugsailor but all for staying healthy. If an establishment that I donât own tells me to keep wearing a mask I will, no questions asked. If Iâm going to be in a crowded place like an airport, busy store, subway, sports event etc I think Iâll continue to mask up required or not. I WONâT support a government mandate telling citizens to wear masks or stifle their businesses just for the hell of it though.
I donât claim to be an expert on Ocean Reef, but the reports were that a large percentage of the Equity Members (property owners) received the vaccine in the weeks before January 22. Brevard County might have started vaccinating in January, but by the end of February there was still a long waiting list. You have to compare PERCENTAGES before you call bull.
Brevard County started vaccinating on 4 January, after the governor authorized residents who were 65 years old and above to be vaccinated.

If one is using the percentage metric, perhaps 100% of the residence in Ocean reef or 65 years or older, consequently they would get the vaccine first. Maybe the guy in charge of Ocean reef is an expediter-the squeaky wheel can get the grease.
I submit that using percentage metrics as a basis for comparison is not without error; I would postulate the urban dwellers get vaccinated at a higher rate then town dwellers in a rural area.

I know a bit about Ocean Reef, a very exclusive Monroe County island. They are a political force and come from all over the world for a few months a year. That they got preferential treatment for Covid vaccine would be expected. The inhabitants of Ocean Reef and their offspring rule the world. Thankfully the weather will be getting too hot for them soon and they will move off to another of their other exclusive abodes in a cooler climate. The rich seem to be sensitive to temperature. They prefer to only be surrounded by other rich in exclusive places where they are delivered by private jet and can avoid being exposed to the rest to us commoners. They are an odd lot but do manage to run world to their advantage.

Just because there isnât a mandate does not mean that one cannot wear a mask if one feels that it is necessary.
If the law can tell you to wear a pair of pants in public, why canât it tell you wear a mask?
If you can ban the wearing of masks, why not ban the wearing of pants?

What if a 400 lb. man with bad acne and a tattoo of Osama bin Laden on his hairy back went around butt-naked except for using his mask as a banana hammock --would that be ok if he was in front of you in the supermarket checkout line? The mask would be below the waist, and he wouldnât be nude. Everybody happy (except me).
The ban on public nudity is just virtue signaling anyway.
Or, just because you are a millionaire government official you have to wear one even though your direct supervisor created a mandate for all public transportation.
For some not wearing pants may get more oxygen to their brains, unused as they are. Itâs now Dec. 2022, anyone still wearing a mask or believing they are beneficial is hopeless. The only thing I would tell them is please, please stay up to date on their boosters. Itâll help end these discussions sooner.
