Super screaming deal for a genuine C. Plath sextant on eBay right now!

$295 but you only have till tomorrow morning. I’d buy it but I’ve already gots one and I’ve just put in a bid for a WWII vintage US Maritime Commission Hamilton Mk.21 Chronometer with both cases! Here’s the link to the sextant if you want to check it out.

If you get it, just remember it was your old uncle c.captain who told you about it!

Great thing about it is, it’s Cordless

I wish I could have afforded it.

It ended up going for $538 which was good but not fantastic. When I put it on here there were no bidders yet so they obviously came in later to get it. It was probably worth between $700 and $800 in the end

Well I didn’t get it thanks for the link though!

I paid $425.00 for my 1978 Cassens & Plath in a Wood Box. A perfect beauty …

Picture from India …

But I paid $1,250.00 for my late 1700 Spencer Browning & Rust London Back Angle Octant in the Step Box …

Beautiful instrument right there!

the c.captain is highly impressed and that’s not easily achieved…well done!

A bit more expensive for that 5 feet tall Cutter Gaff Topsail … :o

…couple more Pesos !

Do you find that people still bring their own sextants back and forth on hitches? I know this was common when sextants were more frequently used and it was treated like any other piece of luggage but how common is the same thing now?

Nowadays, they carry iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc., etc. …

I would not carry my Octant that’s for sure … I would get lost !!!

Very nice and congratulations

it also happens to be ironic that you post this now because I was soon going to list here that I have a 1961 Plath with the 5x monocular scope in the Bakelite case available for sale to help me pay for my Christmas. Nice condition with minimal errors but unfortunately I am working at present and forgot to bring photos with me. Guess that will have to wait until early December but in case anyone is interested, the price will be $395 w/ UPS shipping included.

Did you ever end up buying that chronometer you were talking about earlier in this thread? If you did get your grubby little paws on it we’d love to see some pictures!!!
