What happens to the Jones Act depends on how effective the special interest groups are.
Project 2025 was assembled by a special interest group, so concerning their priorities… they will have to assert influence in the right places. So the House, Senate & Administration. Personally I’ve no idea if 2025 addresses the Jones Act in any way.

I think the biggest clues, besides Trumps past performance with the JA & MARAD, will be his appointment of a director of MARAD & their history in the maritime trade. Biden took 10 months to nominate someone for the spot & it took nearly a year of him in office to get it filled. Eventually it was a politically correct military war fighting Admiral that gave pr’s few & far between with many of them being about the environment & equality. If Orange Man drags his feet for a year like Biden it will be bad for JA & MARAD. If 47 picks a dismantler like RJK jr that will also be bad. If he does what he did last time, rapidly fills the spot with an outgoing leader like Admiral Buzby then those training ships he got for the state schools will stay busy training new maritime officers to work on JA vessels imo. We don’t have long to wait to find out.
So the GCaptain article on Project 2025 includes the idea that LNG can’t be shipped from AK to the lower 48 because there are no US flag gas carriers.
No idea if there even is a liquefaction train in Alaska or a developed gas field but hey it sounds baaaad.

As for a Jones Act Waiver, I don’t think one would be needed. Apparently in America’s Cup Act of 2011, there was rider amendment that allowed the return of the LNG Gemini, LNG Leo, and LNG Virgo into Jones Act trade. Sounds like at least one of them is still around.
