Site Down?

Hello Is it just me? Why can’t I access the site?

Can’t access either at this time.

Same here (with gcaptain main site), Cloudflare Captcha, then timeout…

There is no explanation that is too absurd.

Am I the only one confused? What site can’t you access, the one y’all just accessed to post to? Or maybe this one?

I just experienced the same issue with Cloudflare, but obviously got through. Never happened before, always got directly through sans Cloudflare interference. Weird.

Must be a Zen koan.

Although I was familiar with the concept, I had not heard the term “Zen koan” used for them. So I started down a rabbit hole beginning with googling that. I was going to google “Stupid Zen koans” to find some really ridiculous ones, but then I realized being stupid is kind of thier point.

A man with such habitual precision in his use of words should have perceived

gcaptain.com main website is getting a major nuisance: Haphazardly sometimes working, sometimes not. Same device, same network.

Fortunately, the forum is hosted in a different environment, that, so far, has not been affected.

This is ridiculous, I won’t be renewing my membership next month. 403 forbidden

Let’s give the site admin a chance to fix it, shall we not?

The problem only cropped up one or two days ago, most probably in conjunction with changes to the website code for incorporating the Cloudflare “Signpost” widget, which is marketed as an alternative to captchas, for blocking bots.

Would one of those still having access to the main website please be so kind as to send a link to this forum topic to the main website’s webmaster? :seedling:There should be a webmaster link on any well-administrated website, anyway, for obvious reasons, I cannot look it up myself😎

Two links below. 1 from news & other from job site. I didn’t have any problems. I’m a paying member who has never signed into my account, just clicked on both links from my browser.

Just checked, I was able to access the site:

Thx

I have meanwhile tried different configurations. Here, the 403 error problem persits, irrespective of

  • Device,
  • Browser,
  • Operating system,
  • Network connection (LAN, WIFI, mobile)

I don’t have any problems with other websites fortified by cloudflare - it’s only just gcaptain.com

Got his error when I posted a link.

Sorry, we were unable to generate a preview for this web page, because the web server returned an error code of 403. Instead of a preview, only a link will appear in your post.

I did send an email to info@gcaptain.com

Access problems are probably due to difficulties being reported by Cloudflare in connecting to AWS. Remember, “cloud” is just another term for “somebody else’s computer”

Cheers,

Thanks for pointing this out. I was unaware of the AWS us-east-1 cluster saturation. If the gcaptain site’s woes are connected to this problem, it should only be a temporary issue.
