Well, have I ever seen that, nope. But, Makos are jumpers. We call them flying chainsaws- when hooked they usually go airborne, jumping like their riding a pogo stick, with their mouth wide open, ready to shred anything that enters it.
I sure hope they didnt discard it(provided it wasnt rotting), mako is some damn fine eating… otherwise I wouldnt fish for them.
