Sail-In Parade:
If you have the time, here is 2 1/2 hr. of it:
From Maasmond Newsclipping today:
The SAIL-In Parade marked the start of the 10th edition and 50 years of SAIL.
Ships, crews and visitors from all over the world are coming together in our celebrating capital:
The 10th edition of SAIL2025 was officially on it’s way to Amsterdam! Clipper STAD AMSTERDAM was leading the impressive SAIL-In Parade into the capital. Patron Prince Maurits, together with Mayor Femke Halsema and Chairman Arie Jan de Waard, rang the ship’s bell on the flagship: the official starting moment of this unique jubilee celebration – 10 editions, 50 years of SAIL, 750 years of Amsterdam.
With orange smoke and hundreds of Tall Ships, the magic of five days of togetherness on and along the water has begun.

De GROENE DRAECK is the royal yacht of Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands. It was named after the flagship of Piet Hein, a famous 17th century Dutch admiral. De GROENE DRAECK is a traditional Dutch round bottomed sailing ship, built in 1957 in Amsterdam.
The Former Dutch Royal Yacht PIET HEIN was also present at the Sail-in
The PIET HEIN is a floating monument and was the royal yacht of Crown Princess and later Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. It is named after the 17th-century Dutch navigator Piet Hein. The Piet Hein was presented in 1937 as a national gift to Crown Princess Juliana and her husband Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld on the occasion of their wedding, with the wish: This ship will take you to the characteristic beauty of the Netherlands, which is primarily found on the water. Rotterdam is the current home port of the PIET HEIN. Cruises are held on the ship.
Anniversary of our capital city. So, in 2025, it’s a double celebration: 750 years of Amsterdam and 50 years of SAIL. But that’s not all! In 2020, SAIL was postponed due to the pandemic, moving the 10th anniversary edition to 2025. A triple celebration, indeed! And we are going to celebrate it in a special way! In the year our capital celebrates its 750th birthday, SAIL is the moment to welcome people from all over the world! A festival on water and shore, for and by ‘Netherlands Waterland’ with inspiring wavemakers! In a world connected by water, waves bring us closer together. The largest freely accessible event in the Netherlands offers a unique platform to showcase this connection, both during the event and beyond. In the lead-up to its 10th edition, SAIL is working from a nautical perspective to make an impactful contribution to the challenges of tomorrow.
