Actually, it’s not the heat that causes disassociation of water, it is the electricity.

That’s fairly compelling evidence that you are mistaken in your belief (of understanding middle school chemistry). It is not a problem of total heat output, but of time scale. Even though the heat output of a hydrogen/oxygen explosion is slightly smaller than that of a thermal runaway for a given battery bank (because of conversion losses), the time scale of milliseconds versus minutes makes all the difference.

Hundreds of cars still intact onboard fire-damaged Fremantle Highway - Splash247

Richard Janssen, director of Smit Salvage, told local media that a large number of cars on the lower decks of the Fremantle Highway were still “intact” after teams inspected the ships from inside. He claimed that, upon visual inspection, the cars were in a reasonably normal condition.
The recoverable cars, Janssen said, were located on decks one through four which held both electric and fuel-powered cars.
The Smit Salvage director said in an interview with a local radio station that the fire raged through decks six through eleven and that some of the cars were not destroyed due to deck five being empty.

No final plan is yet in place for the burnt cars on the ship as many of them are fused. Peter Berdowski, CEO of Boskalis, said they don’t want the cars to catch fire again during salvage and let the “misery start all over again.”

New owner looking to repair and flip fire-burnt car carrier Freemantle Highway...

Koole Contractors will not be repairing the ship and getting into the car shipping business but will be looking to repair the ship and sell it to a willing customer.
