It’s official… a US Court of Appeals has ruled that Paul Watson and the “Sea Shepherds” are pirates.

Funny (or not) thing is, they WANT to be known as pirates. Geez, just look at their freaking flags? They are living out their pre pubescent buccaneer fantasies, and risking lives doing so. One has to wonder about the liability. I am not sure, but I believe that the “research” vessels are government owned, and may not be insured on the market for either H&M or P&I. I would think that the tanker is. If the tanker is damaged, it would seem that Sea Shepherd would certainly be open to subrogation by any underwriter/club paying a claim. As an organization, I would imagine that Sea Shepherd doesn’t have very deep pockets. Their financial supporters do, and one would think that there has to be a lawyer out there that would then go after them. . . .

The Japanese public will by losing their taste for whale meat. Reports are that the warehouses in Japan have lots of unsold meat in them now and sales are going down every year so hopefully the simple lack of profit will put an end to this stupid killing of these animals. What isn’t going down however is the taste for Bluefin tuna by the Japanese and shark fins by the Chinese but since these are not warmblooded mammals, SSS will never get the funding to save those fish. Whales are where the BIG MONEY is and the worse thing that could happen to Watson et all, is for the Japanese to cease whale catching.
Of course, I am sure that phat phuck has already got so much money squirreled away that SSS could dry up and blow away but he’ll stay phat for the rest of his phugitive life…that is until the Yakuza find his hideyhole and liquidate his blubbery carcass.
