Singapore may not have much space for OWF within it’s territorial waters, but certainly get some exposure to the Offshore Wind Industry:
Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has signed a deal with UK-based crew transfer vessel operator Mainprize Offshore for the construction of six CTVs. The contract for the construction of six supa-swath-model vessels follows the memorandum...

“It’s crazy to think this design started on a blank sheet of paper with Mainprize at a conference in Copenhagen in 2016. Eight years later there are eight supa-swaths in operation in Europe, two recently completed and more to follow soon,” said Chan Eng Yew, CEO of Strategic Marine.
Maybe it all started as a sketch on a napkin while having " en lille sølle Bayer" and “Snaps” at a friendly “Kro” in Copenhagen.

VARD has been busy delivering vessels for the offshore wind industry this week:
This SOV is the last of four purpose designed and built ships destined for decade-long minimum charters to support operations and maintenance (O&M) work at the Dogger Bank offshore wind farm. Once the windfarm currently under construction is fully operational, the complete windfarm it will become the largest in the world, producing enough electricity to power six million British homes.
Norwind Helm has a length of 85 meters, a beam of 19.5 meters, and is equipped with a height-adjustable and 3D motion-compensated gangway with elevator system, a stand-alone 3D crane, and a height-adjustable boat landing system. She has battery solutions installed for hybrid operations. The CSOV has accommodation for 87 persons on board.

The Ålesund shipping company Norwind Offshore has full operations on all five ships the company has built. Newly named “Norwind Helm” is already on its way to the wind farm “Hollandse Kust Noord” in the North Sea.

The Norwind Helm was actually supposed to be delivered on 30 May next year, but VARD has managed to meet the delivery deadline by a good margin on the other ships as well.
Sverre Andreas Farstad, who is one of the three local family owners of the new shipping company, is pleased.
We have options on several ships, he says with a smile, and praises the shipyard, and not least the large cluster of local suppliers, who have supplied almost all the equipment for the ship. Together with the suppliers, Norwind Offshore has been able to help develop state-of-the-art equipment for the ship. Svein Leon Aure cannot say now what type of ship it will be. The needs of the operators will decide that.
We are lucky to have such suppliers here locally, says Farstad, who could never imagine building abroad, even if it could be cheaper. He believes that it is the final calculation that applies.

Another Rock Installation vessel on order:
Dutch dredging contractor and marine services provider Boskalis has ordered a new subsea rock installation (SRI) vessel with a cargo capacity of 45,500 tonnes. Boskalis claimed that the vessel would be the largest SRI vessel in the industry,...
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
The vessel’s substantial capacity makes it well-suited for projects with a long transit distance between the rock loading facilities and the project site, such as those along the North American east coast, the Baltic Sea, and the Southern North Sea.
It is being developed by converting an existing new vessel. It will be 227 m long and 40 m wide with total installed power exceeding 31,000 kW.

The comprehensive package from Kongsberg Maritime will include full-electric rim-drive propulsion, azimuth and tunnel thrusters, forming the foundation of the vessel’s advanced systems.
The contract will also cover automation, electrical control, dynamic positioning, and thruster control systems.
PS> The ship will be built at the Armon shipyard in Spain. Delivery expected in 2027.
Brunvoll’s delivery for each vessel consists of two azimuth propulsion thrusters, two retractable azimuth thrusters, and two tunnel thrusters.
The vessels will also feature Brunvoll’s Propulsion and Thruster Control system, BruCon PTC, for efficient and accurate maneuvering.

IOW the Italian owned VARD Group, with Hq in Ålesund, Norway who operate shipyards in Norway, Romania and Vietnam design and build vessels for an international market. These vessels will have equipment from suppliers in Norway and other parts of the world.
Yet they manage to compete with yards in China, S.Korea and Japan.
How is that possible?
The company launched its first vessel CSOV, Windward Athens in Romania last month. The hull is getting ready for tow to Norway for outfitting.
It will be delivered in September this year.

The hull for building number 321 arrived at Ulstein Verft on Tuesday.
– This marks the start of a new phase in shipbuilding, Ulstein Group writes in a press release.
The ship is designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS for so-called “walk-to-work” operations. This involves personnel from the ship walking across a motion-compensated walkway to a wind turbine.
Following delivery of the ship in 2025, it can help support the offshore wind sector with modern, high-comfort accommodation for up to 132 crew and customers, according to the press release.
This is Ulstein’s fifth W2W vessel for BS Offshore. All were designed by Ulstein Design & Solutions AS and built at Ulstein Verft.
– BS Offshore is an innovative shipping company, and Ulstein appreciates continuing the good partnership and contributing to the development of sustainable maritime solutions, writes Ulstein Group.
While the hull has been under construction at the CRIST shipyard in Poland, closely monitored by a team from Ulstein Verft, the designers and engineers in the various Ulstein companies in Norway and Poland have been working to finalize the detailed drawings for the ship.
Once the hull has arrived at Ulstein Verft, the phase begins with securing, measuring, outfitting, piping, equipment installations, electrical work and system integration.
The ship is the sister ship to building number 320, which was launched at Ulstein Verft on February 23.
– We are pleased to see that the work to complete our second CSOV vessel is progressing. The vessel is designed with efficiency, safety and sustainability in mind and we look forward to the further progress and cooperation until delivery, states Matthias Müller, Managing Director of BS Offshore, in the press release.

The 121.3 m-long ship will be fitted with a 250 MT active heave compensated offshore crane, a 1,200 sq m work deck prepared for a cable repair or cable lay spread, and ROV hangars prepared for built-in ROVs on both sides. The unit is also prepared for the installation of a motion-compensated gangway, an under-deck carousel, the installation of a large trencher and a helideck.
This is the third vessel Vard is building for DFO, with the first two being commissioning service operations vessels, contracted last May.
The ship’s hull will be built in Vard Shipyards Romania – Braila, while the outfitting, commissioning and delivery will be from Vard Søviknes in Norway.
