It is quite common to not use a bow painter or stern line when launching and recovering a daughter craft.
I was quite surprised when I first saw it, but it works pretty well. Using a painter can actually make it more dangerous because it slows things down.
But to do it you need a daughter craft with a bow thruster or Volvo penta IPS like this one has, that can have a similar effect to a bow thruster.
You also need to have a highly skilled davit operator and coxwain, you can’t have davit operators who are too slow.

Coming to both the US and European markets in 2024, the vessel represents the combined expertise of the respective crew transfer vessel (CTV) and SOV design leaders — providing a brand-new solution to the ongoing challenge of expanding wind power across the globe. The vessel is designed Jones Act Compliant, Americanised, ready for production in US Shipyards.
PS> Not sure what “Americanized” mean, other than that it is JA compliant. (??)

JUMBO-SAL-ALLIANCE TAKES THE HELM IN GREEN ENERGY REVOLUTION.
The MV Lone, after the successful completion of its vessel mobilization in mid-July 2023, has embarked on a transformative journey. Situated in Emden, the vessel underwent crucial enhancements, including the addition of a Fly-Jib, extra living quarters, and the integration of client-provided project equipment. A noteworthy upgrade includes the installation of a new tugger arm arrangement at crane 2, a move set to significantly enhance offshore operations.
The offshore installation vessel Les Alizés has already commenced installing the 107 monopile foundations, including one for the Offshore Substation (OSS). MV Lone’s scope involves the installation of boat landings, platforms, and corrosion protection systems on the foundations. The execution phase, initiated on 6 August, aims to ensure excellent service for the client throughout the project.
