Greetings Fellows,
Any oil or offshore company hiring Rig/Offshore Electricians at the moment and what’s they pay like? I have already checked Transocean and Diamond Offshore but they have nothing open. I don’t mind international as far as they accept Americans.
NB: I’m an Electrician with MSC (Military Sealift Command) and i’m trying to make a switch from deep sea and long hitches to short hitches. Any recommendations and suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.
Switching from deep-sea work with Military Sealift Command (MSC) to an offshore rig role as an industrial electrician could open up several opportunities, especially for shorter hitches. Many job search platforms like Rigzone and OilCareers regularly post openings for industrial electrician jobs offshore. Beyond Transocean and Diamond Offshore, companies like Noble Drilling, Valaris, Seadrill, and Shelf Drilling often have roles available both in the US and internationally. If you’re open to international work, companies in regions like the Middle East or Africa may offer more lucrative pay packages, sometimes including expat benefits.
Speaking of career transitions, platforms like AroundWire can be extremely useful for professionals like you looking to connect with potential employers and industry experts. It’s a space where tradespeople, including blue-collar workers, can network and build relationships that might lead to job offers or valuable recommendations. In fact, it’s a great way to showcase your expertise, especially since you’re already coming from a highly respected background with MSC.
