The find also comes at a critical time for Việt Nam’s ongoing offshore licensing round, which includes acreage in the Cửu Long Basin. Confirmation of a discovery of this scale in a mature basin is expected to draw renewed exploration interest.

[an is to deploy the plant on Alaska’s North Slope, one of the world’s most gas-rich regions.
Novatek has several years of experience building so-called gravity-based structures — massive movable platforms designed for LNG production at remote sites.
Two such structures were built at the company’s LNG Construction Center in Belokamenka, across the Kola Bay from Murmansk. Both were later towed to Utrenny on the Gydan Peninsula , where Novatek is developing its Arctic LNG 2 project.

The offshore drilling rig Hercules is returning to Newfoundland and Labrador in 2027.

“We see significant demand for harsh environment, deepwater capable semi-submersibles towards the end of the decade and believe this contract should position the rig attractively for prospective drilling campaigns.”
The Hercules is currently in Norway and will be prepared for mobilization to Canada later this year.
Odfjell Drilling Ltd. will manage the rig on behalf of SFL under the contract.
The Hercules is a sixth generation deepwater and harsh environment semi-submersible. It is a state-of-the-art tall derrick, dynamic-positioned unit of GVA 7500 design and is equipped with a full conventional mooring spread for operations in water...

Under the agreement, the two sides will look to contract a suitable rig, align services and materials where possible, and coordinate planning and execution. The aim is to run a combined campaign that is more attractive to contractors and easier to deliver, the company said in a filing.
Finder is further advanced in securing a unit and is targeting a semi-submersible rig for its programme in around 400 m water depth. That same type of rig could also be used for Chuditch-2, even though the well is in much shallower water at about 65 m.
